  • Should Colleges stop using CommonApp?

It seems as though the greatest effect of the commonapp is the ability for students to apply to as many schools as possible, however this ability in turn is deflating acceptance statistics to many universities.

  • Why can the use of ideas be construed as plagiarism?

If I believe that their should be a building built in communities for reasons X, Y, and Z, and someone else believes the same thing for reasons W, X, Y (where the same point may or may not be used) but publishes his work, how can the use of that stance and idea/viewpoint be construed as plagiarism?

  • Why do people insist on wanting politics and laws to be based on god and religion?

I try to respect all religions and beliefs- but here's the thing. God has no proof of existence, not a single shred of evidence. As such, why should we base concrete/definitive laws and regulations on something that we don't know exists?

Also how do we know which religion is definitively correct to base a countries laws off of it, especially if not everyone in the country believes in the religion or god? (Looking at you Islam and Christianity)

  • Why do muslims want to kill Majid Nawaz?

For those who don't know, Majid Nawaz is a liberal muslim (shocking right) who's main goal is to reform islam to better promote unity and denounce extremism- and make it harder to twist words to justify jihad and extremism. He isn't in any way insulting the main purpose of islam - to worship 1 god and accept all his prophets and promote prayer and fast- but muslims want to kill him for apostasy??

WHY THE F*CK DO THEY WANT TO KILL HIM??

  • Is the price decrease in gas a good or bad thing fro man environmentalist perspective?

IMO- The decrease in gas prices might attract more people to use more and more gas and buy gas cars. If fully electric cars aren't in larger production with cheaper costs, what implications do you think this will have on the environment with Climate change?

  • What do you believe of the persecution of the Baha'i people in Iran by muslims?

direct quote from a NY Times article I've sourced as a link-

For centuries the city of Shiraz, in southwestern Iran, has been a center of Persian poetry and intellectual life. The very word ''Persian'' comes from Pars, the name of the region centering on Shiraz. It is also the birthplace of the Bab, a 19th-century prophet whose teachings led to the creation of the Baha'i faith.

Two weeks ago in that city, the latest chapter in a long history of the Baha'i persecution unfolded before an Islamic tribunal. Of 21 members of the sect on trial for spying and alleged links with Israel, 20 were condemned to death, according to a Baha'i spokesman in London. The remaining defendant was pardoned.

The Baha'is have been the scapegoats of Persian and then Iranian society for generations. Donald M. Barrett, the secretary-general of the Baha'i World Center in Haifa, Israel, says 20,000 Baha'is have been killed in Iran during the last 100 years. Since the advent of the Khomeini regime in 1979 at least 135 Baha'is, many of them spiritual leaders, have been executed.

The adherents of this relatively little-known religion seem unlikely villains. They uphold the divine origin of all major religions, including Islam. They shun violence, abstain from partisan politics and advocate unexceptionable principles such as the ''development of good character'' and the ''eradication of prejudices of race, creed, class, nationality and sex,'' to quote from a recent pamphlet.

  • Why do muslims like to kill others who don't believe in their faith? (Baha'i)?

I'll just give a few examples here, muslims feel free to try and say these were all justified

The Baha'i faith preaches love, acceptance and global unity but in islamic countries (like post Persian Iran) , they see them as islamic apostasy and mass executes it's members (such as 200 between the 80's and 90's). Muslims also committed atrocities among Sikhs in Northern India, and small christian states in the middle east and northern Africa.

Why do they claim their religion is peaceful when their past is full of denied blood?

  • In islam is it justifiable to kill those who insult the prophet?

I've spoken to many imam about the atrocities in Paris and events like the banning of youtube in countries like Pakistan, and they all say it is justifiable because it is directly insulting the prophet.

even less extreme imam said it is justifiable to kill the head chief of the newspaper for organizing Charlie Hebdo.

no dating and no music is one. Not being able to swim in a public pool if you're a woman is another. Not being able to drive or have substantial votes in Saudi Arabia and other middle eastern country is another. Chanting "death to jews/americans" is another.

  • Why do people get crushed when they arent accepted to Harvard or Yale or Princeton?

I get for a lot of people it would be their first choice school, but why does it surprise so many people that they get rejected? Their overall acceptance rate is around 7 percent, so that would mean 93ish percent of people are denied? If anything why do people have ANY sure fire confidence when applying to these schools if it's more likely they will be rejected?

  • If Trump get's elected, why not tear down the Statue of Liberty as well?

Trump's stance on immigration goes totally against the principals of what "Made America Great" in the first place. On the Statue of Liberty is transcribed,

“Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:

I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

    John F. Kennedy stated,

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

America was built by immigrants, so why no tear down our statue outside the immigration port of Ellis Island where thousands of people came to build better lives for themselves and their families?
