Why do people insist on wanting politics and laws to be based on god and religion?

I try to respect all religions and beliefs- but here's the thing. God has no proof of existence, not a single shred of evidence. As such, why should we base concrete/definitive laws and regulations on something that we don't know exists?

Also how do we know which religion is definitively correct to base a countries laws off of it, especially if not everyone in the country believes in the religion or god? (Looking at you Islam and Christianity)

No shred of evidence to support the existence of God? Look in the mirror lately? And why this association with the existence of a God and laws?

We don't make laws because we think there is a God. We make laws because people do bad things. God has nothing to do with it on this level.

Some of the 10 Commandments are already in our law system. Laws are made for the common good. There are many Man-made laws, and those should not be imposed on everyone. But there are some prohibitions that are universally held, and those are the ones which should be made into law.

Most people aren't stupid enough to insist that everybody else needs to operate according to their personal religious hogwash. Unfortunately however there will always be plenty of stupid people. In the US only fundie god warrior Christian fanatics are stupid, In Iran it's the fundie god warrior Muslims who are stupid and in N Korea the ancestral dictator is worshiped by an entire nation of stupid people mixing politics and religion. Proofs of God:

Belief in God will ultimately be a matter of faith because absolute proof (or disproof) of the supernatural will never be found. However modern Astrophysics has proven the existence of God beyond a reasonable doubt.

    ++ First Cause ++

Newton's Third Law of Motion states "For every action there is equal and opposite reaction." Every action in the universe was caused by a prior equal and opposite reaction.

If we logically follow each and every action and reaction back to the beginning then logically there has to be a first action without a prior equal and opposite reaction. Modern astrophysicists call this event the Big Bang.

This first action was completely independent of outside forces. This action was God, the un-caused cause, creating the universe. This proof also fulfills the principle of Occam's Razor.

By the way, it was Georges Lemaître (1894–1966), a Belgian Catholic priest and professor of physics and astronomy, who proposed what became known as the Big Bang theory of the origin of the Universe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Lema%C3%AEtre

++ Fine Tuning of the Universe ++

A universe in which life has a chance to exist can only happen in where a couple of dozen universal constants coincide, including:

    + Minimum interval of space

    + Minimum unit of time

    + Planck's Constant

    + Maximum velocity

    + Gravitational Attraction Constant

    + Weak Force Coupling Constant

+ Strong Nuclear Force Coupling Constant

+ Rest Mass of a Proton

+ Rest Mass of an Electron

+ Electron or Proton Unit Charge

+ Minimum Mass of the Universe

    + Total Visible Rest Mass

    + Boltzmann's Constant

    + Hubble Constant

    + Cosmological Constant

    + Cosmic Proton/Photon Ratio

    + Permittivity of Free Space

    + Electromagnetic Fine-Structure Constant

    + Weak Fine-Structure Constant

    + Gravitational Fine-Structure Constant

A couple of percent difference in any one of these constants would make the universe completely uninhabitable. Roger Penrose, a peer of Hawking, calculated that the chance of a universe capable of supporting life as we know it as one part in 10 raised to the power of 10 raised to the power of 123 (this means this fine tuning was mathematically impossible to have happened all by itself).

This fine tuning of the universe, while not an absolute proof of God, can be used to help prove the existence of God beyond a reasonable doubt (which is my claim).

If you've never read the Bible you can always believe what you want. When you read the Bible with evidence of what are called the "Dead Sea Scrolls" of more than 3,000 years ago, you start to believe. Those "Dead Sea Scrolls" actually have been translated into some 2600 languages. Pretty impressive if I must say so myself. In those scrolls, men were inspired to write things that only a creator and designer of our planet would know. First: men believed that the earth was flat, held up by turtles and elephants. Was man correct in his belief? Though penned over 3,000 years ago, Isaiah was inspired to write these words: "There is One who dwells above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He is stretching out the heavens like a fine gauze, and he spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." Isaiah 40:22 How about the earth resting flat upon turtles and elephants? Another Bible writer, Job, was inspired to write concerning the earth: "He stretches out the northern sky over empty space, suspending the earth upon nothing; He wraps up the waters in his clouds, so that the clouds do not burst under their weight. He marks out the horizon on the surface of the waters; He makes a boundary between light and darkness." Job 26:7-10 Although the Bible is not a science book, when it touches on science, it is always right although over 3,000 have passed since it was first penned. Why do we need to heed God's Word -- the Bible? "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16 and 17 God's Word is filled with examples of ones who did not listen to him and the consequences paid; AND it has many examples of faithful ones that we can and should imitate so that we can live our lives with clean consciences and be happy even while living during these wicked last days. Jehovah God has given us a brain to see that he exists just in watching the many kinds of birds, fish, animals, and reptiles. Then we see the different kinds of grass, bushes, flowers, trees, vegetables and fruits. All of these thing have existed for more than 6,000 years and the fossils prove that nothing evolved from something else but that they came about suddenly as the Bible says they did. Our oldest ancestors are Adam and Eve as the Bible says. Genesis chapters 1-3

Because the adherents of any religion considers everybody else to be wrong. Just they are right, and they want to force that on us all.

the religious don't even care about right or wrong, it is about fitting their superstition or not.

Either you are thinking and acting upon the truth of God or you are thinking and acting on the lies of Satan. There is no third 'secular' or 'free' thoughts.

You forgot that they want Laws to reflect "their" religion. Others need not apply.
