  • How do I get rid of this anxiety disorder?

I think I have OCD. Whenever I do something I have to double check that I have done it and if I feel relaxed a second later my mind tells me to feel cautious again and that I need to talk care of something or do something. An example is yesterday I just took an exam where I had to fill in my candidate number and name on the cover sheet. After the exam I kept worrying that I might have filled in the information wrong and I couldn't feel relaxed even though the exam was over, which I was supposed to be happy about.

Now all the final exams are over, it means that my summer has started and I have plenty of time to do basically nothing. But this anxiety tells me that I have something/tasks to do but I've forgotten of. I just want to feel secure and relaxed. :(

  • When do you say thank you?

I always say thank you to my friends or anyone when they did me a favor like handing me the plate over the table. But I see a lot of times in the moves or tv series where people don't? So I'm thinking if it's because they're close friends or family and the same rule for etiquette doesn't apply?

  • Any chance at USC when I've been rejected from UCLA and UCSD?

I'm not a California resident so I was wondering if I have a better chance of getting into USC as a private school? I know it's almost as competitive as UCLA but I still have hope. I've been admitted into UCD and UCSB with a SAT score of 2010.

  • I get so insecure when I don't feel stressed or I don't have anything to worry about?

Whenever I'm free from work feeling relaxed I eventually worry that I might've forgotten something that needs to be done. Also, whenever I have finished a school assignment I don't get the relief right away. Is this OCD or any other mental/neurological illnesses?

  • Why do I feel stressed out and insecure SO easily?

This problem has bothered me for a while now. I get so stressed out so easily whenever there's work I need to do. I always worry if I've forgotten a school assignment and will miss the deadline or the teacher will get mad. And whenever a teacher assigns a task that's due a few days later I still feel stressed although I know I can finish it in time.

  • Should I take SAT Chinese with Listening as a native speaker from a Chinese-speaking country?

I'm a native Cantonese speaker from Hong Kong and I'm wonder if it would increase my competitiveness as an applicant if I take the SAT Chinese with Listening. Although Cantonese is my native tongue, I still have a good command of Mandarine (which is tested on the SAT Subject Test). So I wanted to know if colleges would still be impressed? Thanks!

  • Why do I always feel like I have something to do for a due date?

I don't know if this is a symptom of OCD. I always have this feeling of anxiety or insecurity like there's something I have to do but I've forgotten. I feel the need to decide or list out on my mind what I have to do throughout the day or else I would feel disorganized or 'messed up'. Please help me stop this feeling, thanks!

  • How to stop OCD anxiety?

I've had OCD for a few years and recently it has been exacerbated that I feel like so anxious and insecure ALL the time and I can't get rid of the mixture of a stressful feelings. Normally I do a certain thing to 'eliminate' the fears of something that might happen but this time I don't even know what I'm anxious about and what thing I have to do to get rid of it. There's nothing I can do to even temporarily feel relieved. How can I stop the mixture of feelings?

  • When does photosynthesis start in a plant?

I'm doing an experiment on factors affecting germination of green bean seeds. On the internet many say green beans do not need light to germinate. But I've already set up the experiment with green beans as the only type of seeds I have, so I'm thinking of changing the factor from light intensity to temperature. However, I also see a pattern of different qualitative results regarding the physical strength in each seed with different light intensity (initially I used light bulb to control the light intensity but later I used it for temperature instead aftering realizing that green beans don't need light to germinate); the root of seeds with higher light intensity (closer to the light bulb) has a strengthened shape standing straighter, whereas the root of those with lower light intensity has a weaker shape in contrast. In this case, is light intensity playing a role of helping germination or photosynthesis, causing the root to grow healthier? Thanks!!

  • How many AP courses should I take if I have taken one year of IBDP and want to change to AP in 12th grade?

I hope to apply to colleges like UCLA and UC San Diego. I heard the more you the more you seem to be challenging yourself but IB is also regarded as a rigorous program so I'm wondering if I've already taken one year of a ''full'' IB program that would benefit me to take less AP courses in 12th grade?

  • Start taking AP courses in 12th grade? (IB in 11th grade)?

I'm in my 1st year of IBDP and my parents and I are moving home where there're no schools that offer IBDP or IB classes, so I'm wondering if it's okay to change to the AP program in 12th grade and still manage to apply to good universities like UCLA?

  • Websites where I can get reliable data of global temperature?

I've already looked at NASA but they only have global average temperature, but I need data for specific places in order to compare. Thanks!

  • How does the use of language in poems help poets to convey the themes?

I'm planning a presentation on comparing the use of language in two poems and the effects on the themes. In other word, I want to analyze how the two poets use different language (metaphor, 1st/3rd person, connotations, else) to convey what they're trying express specifically. Is this feasible?

I'm new to English literature and I'm not sure if different use of language really has different effect on expressing the message of a poem.

    Thank you!
