How does the use of language in poems help poets to convey the themes?

I'm planning a presentation on comparing the use of language in two poems and the effects on the themes. In other word, I want to analyze how the two poets use different language (metaphor, 1st/3rd person, connotations, else) to convey what they're trying express specifically. Is this feasible?

I'm new to English literature and I'm not sure if different use of language really has different effect on expressing the message of a poem.

Thank you!

of course, this sort of thing crops up in Lit exams [whatever the language ] all the time - surprised your high school English teacher has never suggested it before. Metaphors, similes, personification, alliteration - all are important. And don't forget rhythm and rhyme - one poet might use short jagged lines for an emotion such as anger, while another uses long flowing phrases that run over several lines.

Uhhh.... of course the use of language helps convey the themes, because poems are nothing but language. If two poems express different themes, it's because they use different language. It's not the colour of the paper or something. LOL
