Am I making this too difficult? Square footage question?

I need to figure out square footage for aluminum siding on a trailer. The front is 96x23 -is that really 2208 sq ft, or do I need to divide by 144?

更新:

Yes - talking inches - sorry! Could go all kinds of places with that, but will just leave it at that :)

That is why I thought I needed to divide by 144! Thanks!

If the front is 96x23 you are probably dealing with inches.

    Since 12 inches = 1 foot,

144 square inches = 1 square foot (you are right there)

    So 2208 square inches x 1 square foot / 144 square inches = 15 1/3 square feet.

So, you're right, you need to divide by 144!

you have the square footage right. no need to divide by anything unless you are going to replace the siding. divide by 100 if you are going to that. you only divide by 144 when working with square inches.

96x23? Your trailer is 96 feet long and 23 feet tall? Huge trailer. I thought you might be referring to the end of the trailer, but even in inches this doesn't add up. 8 feet by 2 feet? Tiny trailer.

To find square footage, measure in feet, then just multiply base times height. Do this for each surface, then add those together.
