How Does Pure Communism Eliminate Social Class?

How does communism in the purest form supposed to get rid of social class? Since labour vouchers are used instead of money, shouldn't that still create a gap between the people?

There never was a system where everybody was "paid the same". That's a caricature. Even the Soviet Union understood that it was necessary to compensate surgeons more than cooks if you wanted anybody to bother being a surgeon.

What it does eliminate is the accumulation of capital and the use of capital in making more capital, i.e. private business. (Not that I personally advocate its complete elimination).

Pure communism is utopian, but there certainly have been more egalitarian societies than our own.
