What you need is a video converter. You need to convert the .mkv file to one a disc burning program can use to make a DVD that will play on a Set-Top Box (STB, any regular DVD player). Here's one with instructions:

    http://www.avs4you.com/Guides/convert-video-format... That one's $40 for a year, $70 lifetime, but here's one that's $30 (and has a burner built in)

    http://download.cnet.com/Solid-MKV-to-DVD-Converte...

There are many video converters, both free and paid. Just search [.mkv to dvd converter] like I did.

The world of digital video file types is large and confusing. It seems many people who write software think their approach is best, so there are many flavors out there, each very specific and not compatible with anyone else's version, hence the need for converters. Good luck!

If it is a commercial DVD you will also need to get past the protection. You will need something like AnyDVD or JacktheRipper on MAC.
