Answer: Sorry, my careless mistake/ 我不小心的錯誤! The correct sentence should be:

When she was here, she often took me to a restaurant. She also taught me to cook.

take 過去=> took, teach 過去=> taught

'often' 是 adverb of frequency/ 頻率副詞, it can be used with present/ past tenses.

When she was here, she often took me to restaurant. She also taught me how to cook. -- all past particples

I am looking forward to her arrival... she is coming very soon.

Since she is coming very soon, you are looking forward to her arrival -- present continuous tense -- you are sure she is coming, instead of I look forward to her arrival, because this means she may or may not come.

I corrected some of your grammatical mistakes too.

Actually, as with the first sentence, you should change 'restaurants' to 'dinners'. It will be better if you state the time (when she taught you cooking) in the last part of the first sentence.
