American Atheist Leader Calls for the ‘Eradication’ of ‘Fundamentalist Christians’?

Have you considered actually reading the article where it was posted, instead of on The Blaze? Where, exactly, is the call for murdering people? Where, exactly? Let me tell you the TRUTH, my friend... Nowhere in that article does it call for murdering or eradicating anyone. Period. End of story. The goal of the article was point out the dangers of extremist radical fundamentalists who use their Scriptures to justify horrible crimes against humanity, like flying planes into buildings, blowing up medical clinics and shooting physicians in the head as they are entering their church on Sunday mornings.

Now, unless you are OK with the 9-11 terrorist attacks or any one of a countless number of atrocities committed by religious fanatics, then my question to you is why the hell aren't you shouting from the rooftops that these people do not represent your faith? By disagreeing with me, you are agreeing with them. When will you people realize we are on the same side of this issue? When will you people realize that a majority of Americans do not differentiate between religious ideologies, and when a Christian commits an act of terrorism, it makes ALL Christians look bad. Same with Muslims.

By perpetrating the complete, utter and unequivocal misquoting and misunderstanding of the article in question, you are only serving to further damage interfaith relations and you are adding to the hatred. I hate no one, but I do hate doctrinal ideologies that are used for violence, and it is those radical fundamentalist extremist ideologies that I want to see eradicated. Not people. I have always advocated for activism within the confines of the law and through the legal system and have always condemned any sort of violence that would thwart the free expression of ideas. I am a Patriot and I love my country and absolutely despise when our Constitution is trampled on, or when our precious freedoms are abrogated.

Get it right, man.

I went to the original blog post, and while he does say eradication, he never says he wants people actually murdered. He wants the beliefs eradicated. He's anti-theist, but not supporting murder.

I do not know what you are talking about.I am an Atheist and i was never aware of someone representing me.I would like to make it clear i absolutely do not need any out side help.I decide on my own what makes sense.If you are correct and i do not know,i shall never be in any group for any reason.I decide what i believe.

That makes sense: one radical says something, so all atheists believe it.

That is the same logic applied to Muslims, and that is the same logic that could be applied to Christianity, which has a history of atrocities perhaps larger than any other organization. If I was like you, I would say you were just as bad as all of those Christians throughout history who are much more numerous than radical atheists.

You're an idiot. What good has your crazy fundies ever done? Base everything off a book that does in fact, condone murder?

If you were never a Christian and weren't deluded, you'd recognize these scriptures are blatantly absurd:

"I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (JER 13:14) "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."

Zechariah 11:9:

"And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told." (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

That is outright murder.

I've never heard of Al Stefanelli. Why do you think I have anything, at ALL, in common with him besides what country we reside in and our lack of belief in any deities?

Al Stephanelli is not my leader. Sorry Skippy, I don't know any other atheists who follow him either. But I agree, Fundamental religion must be eradicated.

Where does he call for 'murdering' people? I read the whole thing, I think you have committed libel.

As I've never even heard of him before, he hardly speaks for all atheists...
