Atheists, bare with me here. If the rapture did infact happen, would you convert?
Like if thousands of people across the world suddenly disappeared, would you convert to Christianity?
Haha I meant Bear with me... Typo. I didnt notice until I got the answers. LOL

Yep. I'd say a rapture would be significant proof of gods existence and I would have to rethink my position.

If one event happened that confirmed the truth behind any one religion, then I would convert to that religion.
However, if thousands of people just disappeared, that doesn't confirm Christianity. There is nothing in Christian scripture to support "the Rapture". (Thousands of people just suddenly and quietly disappearing.) According to scripture, "Christ's return" is supposed to be quite the grandiose event.
Besides, if you and thousands of others just suddenly disappeared off the face of the Earth, wouldn't you rather have us looking for you, then just dismissing the event as some magical thing that we can't do anything about? What if, for the sake of argument, the REAL reason you had disappeared was because aliens had abducted you, and you were being tortured in a spaceship miles above the Earth. Wouldn't you hope that someone would be looking for you before just saying..."Hmmmm...must have been the rapture. Guess we were wrong. Oh well.", and then not even looking for you?
The thing about atheists, is we don't make presumtions. We don't go on "faith". We want information before making up our minds about something. When we have reason to believe that thousands of people suddenly disappearing was "the rapture", then yes, most of us will be more than happy to convert.

Absolutely!
I am not a Christian (I am not an atheist either, I do not have specific beliefs) because I find the existence of most Gods that I have been presented with to be contradictory and illogical. However, the mass disappearance of every christian in the world would be impossible enough for me to accept Christianity as the most likely and most logical cause.
I would not be surprised if many people did not convert, however.

Thousands of people across the world disappear everyday. Who could label that the rapture?
- Darth CheneyLv 71 十年前
It depends.
Would we know for sure that it's the Christian rapture? Would there be some sign indicating that the Christian God has said, "enough?"
Or would people simply disappear without explanation?
Because if people simply disappeared without explanation, I would first want to know why they disappeared.

No.
Thousands of people disappear every day.
Did you know that the Rapture is not part of revelations but was created in the 15th century by a monk.

It is my understand that the Rapture happens within the blink of an eye, not much time to "repent"
By the time the rest of the world realized what had happened it would be over.
When the Rapture doesn't happen, will you finally convert ?

nope.
if the rapture did take place, me converting would be a cop out.
if there is a god watching me, i'm pretty sure he would despise an atheist that converts at the last second, simply to save his @ss, more than he would an atheist that stuck to his beliefs, or lack thereof.

I bared my arms, is that enough?
Hmm... hard to say. Just out of curiosity, if an old, bearded man clad in red flew over you in a sled pulled by a team of winged reindeer, would you believe in Santa Claus?

Could be aliens?
If there was a viable evidence to show it was God, then obviously if the evidence is there that there is a God how can I be an atheist? It wouldn't mean that I would choose a religion though, just not be an atheist.
