Atheists: Give me your best argument against Christianity?

You do know this is pointless, right? Do you not understand that other religions and Atheism are not about being "against Christianity?" It's a different belief system than what we as Christians hold.

Are there some people of other religions and Atheism who feel the need to rip down Christianity in order to build up their own beliefs? Are there those who choose to argue against Christianity to justify their own religionism and hatred of organized religion? Of course. But questions like this make all Christians look ignorant.

If you want proof, you're not going to get it either for or against Christianity. Religion's purpose is not to explain science, but life. Science's purpose is to explain physics. The two are separate but not mutually exclusive, and something based on faith and personal proofs can't ever be disproved.

Arguments Against Christianity

First of all, that is backwards logic.

I can claim thousands of things and then ask you for "proof" that those things don't exist.

To use a classic example: If I were to assert to you, that there is a teapot orbiting Mars right now, and ask you to prove me wrong you couldn't.

The reason you can't, is we do not have the optics nor instrumentation, nor ability to search every square meter of every possible orbit around Mars. The task currently is technically impossible.

So then I ask... Do you believe there is a teapot orbiting Mars? Of course you don't. You have no evidence other then my assertions that there is one there. Why would there be one?

The same is true of a God.

You try and have us "PROVE" to you that a god doesn't exist. Well of course this is just as unprovable as the teapot. But that doesn't mean that just because we have an old book, and a lot of believers in the idea that it is true.

If I got 10, 20, or even one million people to testify that the teapot orbiting mars is there, it doesn't actually add any weight to the argument. There is no evidence that there IS a teapot there. Just as there is no evidence that there IS a god.

First off... I am a Christian and I am not wanting to pick a fight. I just want to hear you out and see what you have to say! Please don't give me the "Logic doesn't work with Christianity." I want actual proof. Give me your best proof against creationism and Christianity.

Creationism is blatantly false. The earth is much much older than a few thousand years old. We know this because of fossils, rocks, star-light (stars which are hundreds of thousands of light years away take hundreds of thousands of years for their light to reach us. Since we can see these stars, its obvious the universe is much older than any biblical story.)

Secondly, its not possible for two people in a few thousand years to produce the 6.5+ billion people alive today (and with all the people that have died since then would easily go over 10 billion.) And how about the races, how do we have such diversity between us if we all came from the same great-grandparents?

Besides this we know that there have been hundreds of holy books written throughout the course of human history, and hundreds of sects, cults and religions formed. Christianity was formed about 2000 years ago and is a relatively young religion. Around this time there was a lot of different religions, greek pantheons, islam, hinduism, buddhism, norse mythology, native american spirtualism, etc.

Christianity just happened to survive because of the roman empire converting and taking over the world while using religion to suppress any opposition to the empire. What makes you so sure that Christianity is true if there are tons of other religions with holy books and yours has false statements about the age of the earth, talking snakes, talking bushes, flaming chariots going into the sky, walking on water, people coming back from the dead, etc.

The truth is Christianity is just another brand of Mythology.

the facts that support the Big Bang and Evolution are overwhelming and since those 2 things are facts, that disproves Genesis. If Genesis is not accurate then there is no reason to consider the rest of the Bible as accurate, not to mention there is no historical data to support any of the claims made in the bible.

There were no Jewish slaves in Egypt, there was no Noah's ark, there was no Garden of Eden, God did not turns Lots wife into a pillar of salt, there was not talking snake with legs, there was not talking burning Bush, there was no man that lived in a Big fish.

there is nothing that was written about Jesus during his life, including the bible. The Romans recorded at least 3 other "messiahs" during that period and none of them are Jesus and none of the relate close to Jesus.

the world is not 6000-10000 years old. its is over 4.5 billion years old. there is plenty of evidence to support this.

there is no reason to think that a God created everything when everything we found so far has a naturalistic explanation. to jump right to God did it when we do not know something is intellectually dishonest.

Well if i have to only pick one, how about the fact that the story of Jesus has been done so many times before. There are countless saviors that have been born to a virgin, on the 25th of December, was crucified and then resurrected 3 days later. These same tales date way back to the Egyptian civilization and stretch the globe. (for example, Horus, Mirtha so on and so forth). It is a patchwork of so many different belief systems and a rapping of the Pagan religion itself. Any organized religion that has to use FEAR to drive their people, and has the convert or be killed mentality is not OK with me. If you want to believe fine, believe. But don't look down up on, feel bad for, pray for, spread the word near me. I don't want to hear it. Believe if you want to believe, but keep it out of my government, politics and school systems.

the simple answer from me is I cant answer the question i nthe way you feel.

the way i look at religion is partial agnostic and partial atheist. I look at religion as a means to an end... by this i mean, i believe that religion is used for a basis of definition of our existance. I want to believe that we are here for more than nothing but, i cant help seeing around the world and in the news papers that religion is what we make of it, and thats not always a good thing.

If Jesus is the only way to heaven, why did God inspire the birth of so many additional religions, including some that offer alternatives to believing in Jesus? God inspired the start if Islam 700 years after Jesus death and resurrection, for a reason.
