Why was a person who persecuted Christians, Saul, called by God?

If this is true, does it mean that no matter what we do, God will intervene? :)

Paul or Saul never even met Jesus He was a false prophet. The Essenes do not accept Paul's teachings because he was not authorized to speak on Jesus. King Constantine at the Council of Nicea in 324 AD with his click of scribes changed the Bible. He added what he wanted and who he wanted to control the citizens. For info on this google gospelofthenazirenes.com The (original New testament is the Gospel Of the Nazirenes) before Constantine changed it. Following the original teachings of Jesus will set one free. God will call those who are pure and sincere to speak and spread the gospel not the false prophets. They are self appointed. Jesus originally taught karma, reincarnation vegetarianism and no one goes to hell eternally. I follow Jesus not the Roman governments version.

Saul was a very educated man and as such knew the Jewish laws well. At this time in Saul's life the very thought of someone like Jesus weakened the law that he had such zeal for. In Saul's mind this had to be abolished. God chose such a vessel ( man ) as Saul to be converted and start doing His work. Saul had always thought he had been doing God's work by being as some called him "The Jew of Jews". When we are not doing the Lord's will He has to get our attention. This is what happened to Saul on the road to Damascus

No, I believe God called Saul because He knew he could do the job. Besides God has a plan for us when we are born. Most of us never try to find out what it is.

God's choice completely. Saul was in line for promotion to leadership in the SMASH ALL CHRISTIANS SOCIETY, but God had other plans. As Paul he made a much bigger contribution to civilization.

God will never do the obvious or the easiest......Just think if darwin taught about God given another chance ....God will always do the 'amazing'.... Saul was the christians most viable threat then and everyone knew it... So he does a 180....people were definitely scratching thier heads and listening?

Interesting question! I hope you get lots of educated answeres.. and not alot of blah-blah-blah- by people who know nothing of scriptures.... Good luck! ~Leah....

Jesus stopped Saul on the road and said "why do you persecute me?" and saul responded "who are you Lord?" And Jesus told him. I think he was introducing himself. And Saul then became Paul. and went on to write several of the books of the bible.

God must have looked in his heart and saw something good.

I see a man that worked tirelessly for Jesus and the new Church and suffered much for it.

    He is my favorite apostle.

Yes, and it shows us, even more to love our enemies because we don't know who God is going to call.
