Why is it sometimes when 2 people have romantic feelings for each other, they don't actually end up getting together in the end?
I have heard many times throughout my life that someone had romantic feelings for another person and vice versa, but they didn't end up getting together for some reasons.
What could be some reasons for that?

a lot of reasons: bad timing, a current spouse, differences in religion, differences in ethnicity, economics, and sometimes even politics just to name a few things.

One or both of them being in a relationship already.
They live too far apart.
They have different ideals (for example 1 might want kids and the other doesn't)

Ease/convenience, fear of loneliness, settling for 'sort of compatible'.
