Do you think that a lot of shippers (people who pair characters together) can be crazy?

I have heard that many shippers have send death threats to writers and authors, hoping to scare them enough into making their pairing "canon".

Honestly if that is true, then those people are completely insane and don't have a life at all. If you really get that mad just because 2 fictional characters (who are not real at all) didn't get together, then there is something wrong with you. People shouldn't take fiction that seriously!

In my honest opinion, getting that obsessed over a fictional pairing is pretty pathetic.

As a 16 year old surrounded by shippers and being one myself, no, we are not insane. People who are sending death threats probably need some help, but most of us would not do that (at least I certainly hope not). I do personally prefer some ships that are not canon, but that just means I might read/write fanfiction about the pairing I like, or others might make fanart or cosplay. We wouldn't kill for it, lol.

Why are such people called "shippers"? A ship is a large vehicle that moves through water, or air or outer space in the cases of air- or space- ships. If it means "to put two characters in a container (a book) and deliver them to ..". Who? It's a silly use of an unrelated word. The author has creative control - not the reader - and pairs his or her characters as he or she chooses.

Death threats? By some fanatics of a fanfic? Definitely Looney tunes.
