owning pets / animals isn't slavery?

Cats- they leave if they want to. I've took in a stray who left and chose to be my pet. My cats have a cat flap and can leave if they please but don't.

Animals show love if they are given love. I understand if you have a dog and lock it in a room or a cage but it's not the case with people who love animals.

Animals have been domesticated to the point some wouldn't survive on their own.

So my question finally.. How is owning a pet slavery? (I understand some circumstances and I really want to know)

"Owning pets / animals isn't slavery?"

No owning/having pets/animals isn't slavery as SOME vegan, and a rare few vegetarians would TRY to have us believe. Many pets or animals, get better care than people do, some are better treated by the person who has them, than they treat themselves medically. As far as domesticated animals goes, many more would survive, than what some would lead us to believe. Some of the breeds of dairy and beef cattle originated from some very cold climates. In slightly warmer climates, they would fare quite well. Examples would be the Angus, or the Holstein dairy cows. Both of which I've seen outside, on some very bitter cold days. Most types of dogs would survive quite well on their own as well, with possibly the exception of some of the smaller breeds, and those with little hair/fur in colder climates.

Owning pets can be slavery if you don't give them any freedom or love. Breeders for example. I know a pitbull breeder. He has his own pitbull that he loves and treats well but the rest are money making machines. No love, no play time, no freedom. The female makes babies 3 or 4 times then are ssold off. The males are kept as breeding machines. That is slavery.

My dogs are treated as family. They don't want to leave. My cats won't even go outside. They sit on the patio and enjoy the sun then come back in. They are 16 years old and have had zero interest in stepping foot in my backyard. I take them outside and they run like hell to get back in.

Owning animals isn't slavery by any means.

its slavery. My problem is iam too apssionate about animals, i can't imagine life without them. So i have to have pets. But i show them much love & Freedom . So what i mean is: its slavery, but its clear that taking a good care of pets and givin them love and care, is better than animal slaughter and eating animals.

If i let my bunny go, he can't live in he wild. If i take him to a farm, they will eat it when it grows. With me he is super happy, see for your self on my channel (tarza taimur)

It's not, if the animal cannot survive on it's own. I'm not against pets but I'm against the pet trade when it means things like puppy mills and importing exotic species that are in danger or mistreated.

Owning animals is slavery - for the human.

My cats have me trained to get up at 5:30 am to feed them, to scoop their poop and pee clumps twice a day, to brush them, to give up half my bed to them, to make sure they're entertained and have fresh water and tend to their general well being.

And yes, they are both neutered. This keeps them from trying to get out to hump female strays. It keeps them indoors where they're safe. It helps maintain urinary tract health and cuts out territorial spraying. Two un-neutered male cats in the same household can be very territorial which is stressful for each animal. Neutered cats have less stress in this situation.

They are the kings, I am but their humble servant.

Owning a pet is not slavery, as long as you take care of your pet properly. Obviously, it is slavery if you FORCE it to do things, but it is totally fine to have a pet.

Sure it is. If you "own" a cat, you are its slave. You will feed it when it wants, you will pet it only when it wants to be petted and if you violate these rules you will know about it. Cats are the boss, not people.

Dogs, on the other hand, are more like children who never really grow up. Always want to play and are big on giving affection.

Never heard that keeping pets is a form of slavery. It is a responsibility to properly care for them though.

Absolutely not, it's adoption! You would only be making them slaves if you were making them do a lot of hard work for your which pets are incapable of due to the lack of fingers.
