Catalytic converter replacement?

If you ditch the cat and connect a straight pipe the cars ecu will need to be reprogrammed to make it think the cat is still in place and doing it's job, otherwise the car won't run correctly.

Car tuning firms will re map the ecu software which will improve the performance, the Jetta 200 bhp increases to 245 and torque up from 280 newtons to 360, can also remove cat and re programme ecu.

The cat removal however makes it not road legal cos emissions go up, hence this is an off road conversion.

However specialist tuning shops will re engineer a new muffler big bore complete with catalytic converter -then it's still road legal.

My son did a cat delete on his ride. He got a tuner that allowed for the removal of the cat and sensors. Without the tuner, the light will say on and performance/mileage will suffer. He also did a EGR delete and ran a 5" pipe from the turbo back with a HUGE muffler. He gets better fuel mileage and much more power. We live in a free state, so even though it might not be legal, no one cares.

You may not care, but law enforcement, the car won't pass inspection, your gas mileage will suffer, plus there will be no increase in performance, just noise.

Gut the cat. Mount a pipe from the o2 sensor fitting to the passenger compartment and then all the lights will turn off.
