Is there a reason the bible gives a complete lineage of Joseph if he isn't actually Jesus father?

I would make sense if Joseph was the biological father, but according to the bible 'immaculate conception' (i.e. the 'holy spirit') was responsible for Mary becoming pregnant.

Not only does the bible gives a complete lineage of Joseph, but did you notice it goes all the way back to fictional "Adam and Eve"? And it's only 75 generations, meaning the universe is only about 3000 years old.

And yet there are people that believe this nonsense.

Jesus’ lineage is the first evidence the Christian Greek Scriptures give in support of his Messiahship. The Bible foretold that the Messiah would come from the family line of King David. (Psalm 132:11, 12; Isaiah 11:1, 10) Matthew’s Gospel begins: “The book of the history of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.” Matthew backs up this bold claim by tracing Jesus’ descent through the line of his adoptive father, Joseph. (Matthew 1:1-16) Luke’s Gospel traces Jesus’ lineage through his natural mother, Mary, back through David and Abraham to Adam. (Luke 3:23-38) Thus the Gospel writers thoroughly document their claim that Jesus was an heir of David, both in a legal and in a natural sense.

I meant Jesus met the legal requirements as Joseph's son and thus put Jesus in the lineage of David of the tribue of Judah on both sides of his family.

Is there a complete lineage of Mary 'mother of God' giving birth to Jesus and is meant to be so revered you don't hear much else about her after wards?

Or is just males overall are the ones of significance?

I'm a guy and I'm sick of the sausage fest that goes in the Bible.

This man begat this guy, this guy begat this dude, this dude, began this fellow, this fellow begat several sons..

You would think men are the ones that give birth.

Legal considerations are involved in any claim to kingship. Even if a son is adopted and not naturally-born to a man, he can still be a legal contender for the throne if his line of descent through his adoptive father is genuine. That is what Matthew's line of descent features, and why it differs from Luke's genealogy. Matthew, a Jew, was making some important points for his Jewish readers.

Matthew follows the line of King David's son Solomon, which Luke follows the line of Nathan, another of David's sons. This could account for Joseph's genealogy with Matthew, and Mary's genealogy with Luke. As the offices of priest and king were inherited from father to son, that is why Matthew's genealogy takes its particular course, being representative and not complete, making a religious theme.

It shows Jesus' heritage as running from Abraham through David. It confirms his as a legitimate heir to the throne of David. It also goes back to Abraham, the father of the Jewish race, not to prove him to be the Messiah, but to make him a possible candidate. Jesus is presented as the anticipated Messiah of the OT, the Saviour of his people, and the King descended from David assuming his throne (see 2 Samuel 7:16). He is heir to Abraham and ultimately fulfills God's promises to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3). With Joseph being Jesus' legal adoptive father, this case is made by Matthew. AiH

Jesus was of the tribe of Judah and the lineage of David by natural birth through his mother, who descended through David’s son Nathan. (Luke 3:23-38) And he had the legal right transferred to him through his foster-father Joseph, who was from David through King Solomon. (Matt. 1:1-17) Details of this genealogy are a matter of public record in the Bible. Only the Bible record of this lineage remains. There are absolutely no other records of David’s descendants extant, because these were destroyed when the Roman army desolated Jerusalem and burned its temple in 70 C.E. All public records, all archives, were wiped out. No one since then can possibly trace his own ancestry back to David. Since God’s purpose cannot fail, this means that Jesus Christ is undeniably the Messiah, the King chosen by God.

According to Bible prophecy Jesus was to be a descendant from the lineage of King David by tracing his life from his mother Mary and his step father leaves no doubt that Jesus is the rightful heir to the kingdom of God which will end all suffering on earth

Is there a reason the bible gives a complete lineage of Joseph if he isn't actually Jesus father?

    Yes

    And why not?

But it's just a literary device to pad out the plot of your fairy story!

Great question, he was a part of Jesus life though. He was instrumental in rearing baby Jesus, he taught him many things. By means of God an angel spoke to him through a dream for the purpose of saving Jesus life. Jesus was know as the carpenter's son, so knowing Joseph background is truly important.
