Are those prescription "help" cards for real, or a scam ?

My Medicare Advantage Insurance has decided not to cover my medicine. I cannot afford it on my own. Anyone had any luck with the RX assistance cards advertised on TV ? Or the ones I got in the mail ? Is it just a scam to get information from Senior Citizens ? I can't afford to be scammed either.

I have a "prescription help" card that is issued through my state. Free card and offers great discounts on drugs. I figured it out, and what I have to pay for a co-pay on my prescriptions is way, way less than what I would have to pay for prescription coverage. I picked mine up at my doctor's office, so check with your doctor or pharmacy.

Also, check out Walmart's prices....they're the best around.

Try AARP MedicareRX, all you have to pay is $31.20 a month and your prescriptions are really cheap. For example thyroid meds would only cost 2 bucks for 3 months or 90 days.

If you need prescription Nexum with a stronger does is will only cost you60 bucks for 3 months or 90 days.

So it is cheaper and also using the OptiumRx online ordering of your prescriptions makes it that cheap, you can have your doctor order it that way and you should get your meds withing a week in the mail. Here is the link for that online service.

I've heard of that on TV but do not order or mess with those ads on there.

I only listen to what medicare tells me to do to save money.

You also don't have to be a AARP member to get this either.

EDIT- Whoever says MedicareRX is a scam need to check it out again. Call Medicare they will help you save on prescriptions.

I've had this for 2 years now and love it.

You should Google the plan you're talking about, with the word "scam" and a question mark. Most of them are. You are required to pay a monthly membership fee and the drugs that you need may not be available. If they happen to be available then it would be a good plan for you, but odds are against you. I just looked up something called Medicare RX Hotline, which is advertised on television all the time, and found it to be nothing more than a come-on AND a scam.

I researched the "Advantage" plans and chose the AARP MedicareComplete with United Healthcare. Zero premium other than paying the normal part B required by Medicare. Prescription prices are very low, I take two that are each $2 a month. I had eye surgery recently and the copay was $275 (not bad for zero premium). The "in network" doctor and hospital list is huge, covering all my doctors and hospitals. Free annual checkup, free periodic colonoscopy, Free gym membership. I was with Kaiser Permanente and it was a ripoff; pay extra for most doctors (in network extremely small list of doctors & hospitals), expensive prescriptions, pay for annual checkup, pay for gym, etc.

The programs offered by the drug companies are real and they give real help.

Please check out this website : goodrx. You can find a listing of prices in your areas for your meds, and usually a coupon that saves you a lot of money. Using the site, I lowered one of my med costs from $140 per month (with insurance!!) to $100. Even the pharmacist was surprised when she tried it and it worked.

There are legitimate websites for Canadian pharmacies with fair pricing and good service, also.

It's a discount club at best. You're better looking into other plans or buyer's clubs that get generic medications from Canada.

Ask your pharmacist! The are the ones who have to fill for payment to the card companies. They know which are legit and the ones who are not.

Have you applied for Extra Help Part D? I never buy anything advertised on TV. Those are services to get information that you can get yourself for free.
