How to give car a wet mirror finish?

my car(white colour) is now 6 years old and with time it's paint has become quite hazy, i want to give it a good mirror look but do not want to spend too much. i have used waxpol paste polish, it removes minor scratches but shine is not up to the mark(almost negligible).

i have heard about formula 1 liquid carnauba wax, i it good?

is any other good polish/wax available under $20 (USD)?

Carnauba wax is the hardest wax known.

It is probably best to get a good wax remover and thoroughly clean the vehicle before you put fresh wax on as otherwise you are simply entrapping the dirt beneath the wax layer.

Turtle wax once did a cleaner of blue crystals that did a great job.

Also Obtain some clay putty; rub all over the paintwork as per directions to remove dead paint then finish off using the Carnauba wax to gain a high shine and good UV protection.

Hi the modern car is sprayed with a clear coat of lacquer which over times does become hazy. so polishing it does bring it back to a good shine. however what i think you are talking about is this new clear lacquer finish which is now sprayed on a single coat which is a bit more harder and longer lasting. which can only be done in a body shop for a rather expensive price. apart from washing and waxing every week. which is what we used to do back in the 1960's with cellulose paint.

Sounds like your paint is oxidizing, and the finish needs a thorough cleaning before you try to make it shiny again. Use a good quality cleaner/polish to remove the oxidation before you try to buff to a high shine. I like Meguiar's products... Available at most auto supply stores.
