This is a question for Christians (feel free to come along and discuss).?

So over the course of history, the opinion, view of people of the concept 'God' has changed. Whereas in Classical times, the God was a punishing one, and in the Enlightment age, God was passive and had only created the world and wouldn't do anything further. And now we have a forgiving God. I wonder, how do you guys see God nowadays? What do you imagine he looks like? His habits, his doings, his temper, his will for the world and mankind. Really, I do want to know.

更新:

By the way, even though I'm technically not Christian, there is no catch anywhere here like 'hah, with what you said now, I can disprove God or anything'. Don't worry, I'm really not going for that here. I'm trying to broaden my view, honestly.

更新 2:

By the way I hope nobody minds if I am not going to choose a best answer. That would be like judging your believe and I'm not doing that.

God is Unchangeable friend, He is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. I don't understand why you feel He has "changed" dear? God only punished when His people went astray,(OT) and He will do so again for the final time (NT) God is Love, He is Just and Merciful, always...God Bless:) amazingfacts.org

God is Eternal. This means that He was before Creation. He never changes.

    You have it almost backwards.

The merciful God is the ORIGIN

Psalm 136 King James Version (KJV)

136 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

4 To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.

5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.

6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:

8 The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:

9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

10 To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endureth for ever:

11 And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever:

12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.

13 To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever:

14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:

15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endureth for ever.

16 To him which led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endureth for ever.

17 To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:

18 And slew famous kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:

19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endureth for ever:

20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth for ever:

21 And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercy endureth for ever:

22 Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endureth for ever.

23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:

24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.

25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Then the NT, in underscoring what Jesus did for us, warns that the punishment for rejection is now greatly higher than it was.

28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

    ==================

At the present time, at least in the Catholic Church, it is the time of The Saint of Mercy, St Faustina and of the Little Flower, who restores the simplicity of the Gospel for many people.
