Do i need to put a - sign infront of the words sin, cosine, tangent , and cotangent if they are negative?

i know that i'm right but i need teachers to prove i'm right because a relative is arguing saying that all negatives have a negative symbol

such as:

sin(-!7pi/6)= -1/2 which is negative and the word sin doesn't have a negative symbol in front of it.

I need teachers and other people with high mathematical degree to answer this for me. Also leave your education degree.

    If pi < x < 2pi, then sin(x) < 0.

    If pi < x < 2pi, then - sin(x) > 0.

    Master's degree in math.
