What's the next step if my neighbor continues to let his dog use the bathroom in my yard?

My wife and I have been very clear to our neighbor about this situation. It's bad enough they don't keep the boxer on a leash (it's a very friendly dog, I must admit), but when they let it out the house it heads to my yard and poops. Their idea of controlling it is yelling out to stay on their side of the yard, then sometimes they don't bother to clean it up. I'm tempted to start putting it on their back porch, but I'm aware that I can't do that, and as of recently, I can't afford to blow my temper and do something stupid again (unrelated incident). What do I do now since no one seems to be at home and it's in my backyard and of course, I have to cut the grass today.

I should add I've talked with them at least 6 times since they've moved in roughly 4 months ago (that's not counting the number of times my wife went and talked to the guy). I've been patient and I have a very bad temper so the fact that I've yet to put it on their back porch with a note means that I'm maturing.

Take pictures of the dog in your yard and doing it's business.
Also of it being off leash.
Send copies of pictures with a note stating you will call animal warden and police if the dog is not kept out of your yard.

Then follow through with it.

Or you could box it up and set it on fire under his bedroom window.
Mail him a present of a box of poop.

I'd go try to talk to them one more time. If they still allow the dog to go in your yard after that, you can call animal control. I'm sure there are leash laws where you live, and it's not safe for the dog to be running around without a fence anyway. Animal control will probably give them a warning, and if it happens again, you can call again.

You can try deterrents like an ammonia or vinegar border that the dog would avoid. If that doesn't work you can build obstructions like a fence or hedge row.

Otherwise you're going to have to either reason with your neighbor or put the fear of god in him.
It seems you may not want to resort to violence.
