Bike shudders when starting, and clutch feels different...?
Hi all,
My bike started acting up today at a set of traffic lights. I stopped, clutch in and kept it in gear - the bike then stalled. So, i thought, meh, start her up! Upon pressing the starter button, the bike kind of shivered whilst starting up, then started fine - I had to hold in my front brake or I would move forward. The bike wouldn't live if I wasn't applying revs. The clutch lever has gone a bit loose since then. It's also not downshifting well - It's solid, until I leave the clutch out and pull it back in, then downshift again. Someone has recommended it could be the clutch cable, but before I go and buy a new one I need to be sure it is the cable. The bike is a Lexmoto XTRS 125. If you need any more info let me know.
Thanks in Advance,

It's very possible your clutch cable is stretching or fraying and getting ready to break. They usually break at the end(and the lever end more often than the clutch end). So check each end to see if there's frayed wires. If it looks good just adjust it til you have the right free play which is checked by the gap between the lever and the housing where the lever mounts. Free play is generally about an 1/8 inch gap. It could also be needing fresh oil. I'd suspect the cable first though.

when at traffic lights you select neutral.
otherwise you could be in too high a gear when you set off
It is possible that you were not in first at the lights
you've pulled away ( hence it stalled)
You've then started not selected first and process of pulling away in too high a gear has caused the clutch to wear
If you've done this everytime you've pulled up... then you have damaged the clutch.

You will need to adjust the cable. If this is beyond you [and it is] a shop will do it properly and cheaply.
