How to burn files using Nero?
I have a movie on my hard drive and I want to back it up on a D V D It is a mkv file nero 9 can play it but when I try to burn to a disk using Nero Vision or Nero burning rom it does not recognize it . Is it possible to burn it with Nero or can you recommend a free program to do this

If you want your video in DVD format convert it first to AVI then add to Nero Vision. If you need a converter Format Factory is free and works very well. I'm not sure, but you might be able to use Nero Recode to convert the file. If all you want to do is back it up I would also suggest burning it as a data disc with Nero Express.

You have to first convert the .MKV video file into a DVD file type first, Nero has software for that, I guess it's Nero Vision.
Depending on what version and package of Nero you have purchased, some features may not be activated....

Burn it as a data file and you shouldn't have any trouble -- except of course that it won't be able to play on a DVD player, but if you want a backup then create a data disk and include the mkv file on it.
