Day 1- If you arrive at KIX @ 4:30PM, by the time you get into Osaka there's a good chance the aquarium will be closed. At least for me, I have never felt like going anywhere except to bed after a long international flight.

Day 3- All the way to Tokyo to party? That's kinda' like being in Texas and deciding you are going to take a road trip to Arkansas to pick up a six-pack. There are closer places with the same offering. There are plenty to places to party in Osaka. And without that "Let's buy a six-pack in Arkansas." road trip, the JR pass is no longer needed. Saves you money.

Not sure what deer you are talking about in Kyoto. I've only seen them in Deer Park in Nara.

Stay in Osaka as your base and you'll have more than enough to do and see when you add in Nara and Kyoto to keep you busy for your time here. You're really only here for 5 days. And when you go to Nara, add Todaiji to your list of things to do. The link is below.

Osaka train pass and kanagwa train pass is different. they can not be used in osaka and tokyo. so you would have to buy 2 train passes if you went to tokyo and osaka. Like Three said, there is more then enough places to party in Osaka. The women are better here to, less gaijin to deal with in osaka. in tokyo there is too many. Nara would be the place where you feed the deer, not Kyoto. Trying looking at club pure or sam and dave for osaka clubs. Pure you can drink all night for 3500 yen.

The JR pass will pay itself off, it only covers "JR" trains but it will not cover subways, monorails etc.

It will cover JR trains only (which includes the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo and back, and the JR train to/from KIX).

So the JR pass already pays off, it is good to get.

    However your itinerary worries me:

    You say:

"day 3 tokyo , party all night then catch a train back to osaka

day 4 kobe , kawasaki museum , port , more stuff around kobe"

So do you plan on ever sleeping sometime between day 3 and day 4??

Note that trains do not run 24 hours a day, party all night in Tokyo and go back to Kobe on the morning of day 4? How about sleep? Sleep in Tokyo?

Thanks for the clarification. Outside of pack travels season you should be able to find as eat on the bullet train back to Shin Osaka without problems. You can make seat reservations for free with the JR pass on the Shinkansen (bullet train). You cannot use the Nozomi Shinkansen, but you can use the Hikari Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka.

To figure out if a JR Pass would be worth it or not for you, use Hyperdia’s website to figure out how much your planned trips might cost, and compare it to the cost of a JR Pass.
