credit score went up?
i pulled a fico score 20 days ago and it was 520 i pulled it again today and it is 578 and all i did was dispute one thing , this address in dallas that i never live in and have no idea how it got there , my question is could one error make that much different? i also have another thing on my credit score, my car was reposessed in 2004 but it was sold and the lender still coming at me so should i dispute it or what should i do. thanks
to my take on it - the address in dallas isn't a debt , its not even my address so that's why it surprised me but i think it's a good idea to let the repo drop it's almost time anyways , thanks so much ( the other answerer )
to bddancer2 - i got the score from equifax and also myfico.com so ( i think ) it's fico so one more question is this , i have a total credit card debt of $5100 if i pay it off will it help my score even more? , thanks!

That address had absolutely no impact on your credit or score. That is not why there is a difference in your score.
For starters, is that a real FICO score? The Equifax site sells FICO scores. You can also get FICO scores for Equifax and TransUnion at MyFico.com. Consumers can no longer get FICO scores for Experian. The Experian and TransUnion sites sell you Vantage scores (different scale). Third party monitoring services use Fakko scores. If those scores came from two different sources, you are probably comparing apples and watermelons.
If those are both scores from the same source, the score increase is more likely due to updates on other items on your report.
Derogatory items age off your credit report 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency (default). If you defaulted on that car loan in 2004, you have another year or so before that ages off.
When cars are repo'd, it is normal for the vehicle to be sold at auction. The lender then comes after you for the loan balance plus various auction and legal fees. That debt may or may not still be within the Statute of Limitations (SOL), the timeframe to bring lawsuit. Depends on what state you are in.

Scores can move up and down in 20 days.
Something moved it to rise that much.
The address does not count in the scoring but if it was attached to a positive or a negative it will have an impact.
By disputing the address it must have been linked to something.
Also, you might have hit an aging of a credit line or something.
The car is most likely out of the statute of limitations and cannot be collected on. They can keep trying but most likely they cannot collect it. Check your states SOL for this.
It is about to come off in 2011.
Technically you still owe them the difference but if you are out of your states SOL they can sue but cannot win.
Might as well just let it drop off this year. If it is close to the month it was repod then yes dispute it and see if you get lucky to get them to remove it.

there is not any set form of issues your score will go down for an inquiry, it will develop depending on the shape of inquires you've over the perfect 6 month era. the total theory is to be certain chance, in case you're utilizing for distinct credit your this may aspect out you're a larger chance as you're searching to address more suitable debt and some creditors would no longer be granting it to you. That stated in case you be conscious for a mastercard and have not utilized for something presently you ought to lose decrease than 5 factors once you've many inquires over a short era it will be as a lot as twenty factors. yet those go away after 6 months, and in case you do have some inquires on your credit from paying for a clean motor vehicle or living house and paying for costs or something like that, write a letter to the lender the position you're utilizing and clarify that you've been paying for for a motor vehicle personal loan or a private loan and they're going to push aside the inquires. wish this helps.

Don't get excited yet
Just because you disputed that one thing and it came off and it appears as though your score went up.. it could go back down and this item added back to your report if the company you disputed with proves to the credit bureau it is your debt.
Also, why would you dispute a repo that IS yours? That won't get taken off. It will age off 7.5 years after you default, so it looks as though it is getting to that ripe age. I wouldn't dispute the repo. It is accurate info.

if there was an address in your report but you never live there, be careful of an identity theft.
