Are you scared of "i love you"?

I had a really hard time saying them before I got with my current girlfriend. I had been hurt in the past and it made me very wary of my feelings and question the strenght of emotions. But she was patient and I found myself opening up to her..letting her into my heart.

Now I find it easy to tell her I love her because I understand my feelings more. Its also an amazing feeling when the person you love tells you they love you back.

I struggle like mad with it. Which is pathetic really..I tell my kids on rare occasions.I say ' love you' rather than ' I love you' I cannot abide the ' love you's' every five minutes people carry on with these days.

It devalues it. I mean some people can't go from one room to another with out shouting 'LOVE YOU' urgh.

When I worked in a n office it used to be like an infectious disease. Partners ringing each other up to discuss what they are having for dinner " yeah let's have spag bol, OK bye, LOVE YOU"

I would cringe...JUST SHURRUP.

However the upshot of this is. if I do say it I can guarantee I mean it :-)

I used to have issue with it, then got burned and had hard time saying or even hearing it for a long time.

Now have no problems saying it to those few nearest and dearest to my heart, but only say it when mean it. Think some people throw it around too freely with no emotion behind it

the first time i heard those words i was terrified.. i loved him but i didnt know what to say to it. i didnt know whether or not to say the same thing back if he wanted me to say it then and there or later but i do remember saying it i remember telling him for the first time and i sware to god iv never been so nervous incase he no longer loved me after the amount of time i waited.

but i do remember saying it for the last time to him as he lay dieing and iv never meant it so much in my life when i said those words and i never knew the complications to those words and iv never felt the same way about any one else im twenty two years old and iv never loved any one else like him i still wear the ring he gave me on my wedding finger and i will never take it off.. i love you can mean so much and so little and yet when the tiem comes you know people use those words to get what they want and to know the feeling behind them when u truely mean it rocks you to yoru very core..

Oh yeah, it's easy for me to say it when I mean it.

The problem I find is that if someone you love overuses it you start to wonder whether they really mean it each time they use it or are they just trying to impress you.

I only say it on special occasions or romantic moments sort of thing.

Not as much scared to hear the words now days as I am annoyed by it. Dont tell me that unless you mean it, and only be telling me you love me, not 18 different girls.

I can say it when I mean it.

I think in the past I've said it far too often and too freely. These days, it's reserved for just a handful of special people.

I can say it if I'm not referring to romantic love. I used to have no problem saying it, but for the last few months I've decided I'm better off when I'm not in love.
