New option for the people that can't vote No on 8 in California (and Florida and Arizona), can you do this?

If you can't vote note NO, then please do not vote on 8 at all.

Please read this all the way through, at least twice, before commenting.

Come to one of my same sex wedding. See two people in love dedicating their lives to one another and pledging to make the world around them better. Feel how moving their vows are. How their patents cry (sometimes) because they are so happy for their son/daughter. Their adopted kids thrilled that now the two people that love and care for them are a legal recognized family.

And at the end, everyone Celebrates! Many of my same sex couples are even more happy than my opposite sex couples because they have been oppress and wanting this for so long.

If you can't vote NO, please considering not voting on it at all. Don't let the fear in your heart lead you to an act that you will later regret and leave a broken crack on your heart. To take someone civil rights is an act all people with a conscious will regret. It has nothing to do with school, kids or churches. It's about civil rights and discrimination, and good people must always say NO to that.

So if you can't vote No, will you not vote on it at all? I know this is a challenge for some, and I appreciate and applaud you considering this option.

Who will pledge not to Vote on Prop 8?

更新:

Please actually READ it before commenting. I am not sure the first two commentators can read - just cut and paste.

更新 2:

And regardless what happens on Tuesday, I will still be performing Same Sex Weddings. I did before, and I'll do it after, you can't stop that.

I'll vote No on 8. its decades old legislation rewritten for a new age.

to the guy who said hes voting yes because it would "open a new can of worms" for suing religion:

you cant sue religions for discrimination. if a church doesnt want to preform a same sex ceremony, the law cant make them, and honestly, i wouldnt want the law to force someone to officiate MY wedding, gay or straight. its a wedding, its supposed to be HAPPY not resentful.

if you dont like gay marriage, dont have one. you have no right to tell your neighbor who they can and cannot marry.

Judge not, lest ye be judged...

think of it this way: in california we had a ban on gay marriage, and guess what: the courts ruled it UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

so those of you out there voting yes are voting in an unconstitutional law.

unconstitutional=against the single most important document in america.

    also:

marriage is not just a religious thing, or this wouldnt be an issue. note that this is a human RIGHTS issue, not a religious issue. if the catholic church doesnt want to marry my friend and her female fiancee, more power to them, we'll find someone who DOES, like this very cool asker. not being able to marry denies people rights that should be granted to ALL couples that are in love and dedicated to each other.

omina vincit amour. love conquers all. even if these propositions pass, do you think thats it? you are sadly mistaken if you do, because it WILL get pushed to the USSC, and they WILL take the case and end this once and for all.

It indicates that the crusade by means of the bigots was once extra positive, is all. I understand plenty of individuals in CA who don't seem to be bigots - and lots of of them did not vote in any respect. Not even for President. They did not consider it might make any change. The Fundies were screaming the loudest considering the fact that the Moral Majority hijacked the Republican Party within the 1980's and made homosexuality and abortion the ONLY problems which can be essential for fundies ever considering the fact that. Yeah, it's going to pass to the Supreme Court, however that is no assurance both. . Unreal. So, so sorry. Maybe there'll nonetheless be a (very) slim win (that means defeat of Prop eight)

Sorry I am voting Yes. It's about a lot more than just "marriage and love".

Legalized gay marriage means pastors and clergy who refuse to marry same sex couples can and will be sued under the law. This has already occurred many times in Massachusetts and Connecticut where gay marriage is legal.

Also, schools and teachers will be forced to teach same sex marriage as moral and legal. This is occurring right now in Massachusetts where elementary school children are given books like “King & King”, a fairy tale about 2 princes falling in love and “Who’s in a Family”, a book that shows same sex parents along with other types of families.

Just like our children should not be taught to accept Jesus in school, they should not be taught gay marriage as moral at school. These discussions should only happen within the home between parent and child, or between student and student, NOT teacher to student.

i'm voting yes on prop 8

same sex marriage isn't the same as traditional marriage

marriage was suppose to be done in the church or officially with a priest or a place where god wills it

marriage was not suppose to be done by a bureaucrat and in the lobby of a company building.

if homosexuals want to get married then they need to make up their own kind of domestic partnership like first answer said.

marriage is strictly between a man and a woman.

but "the new domestic partnership" can be between whomever with whomever

and i (and probably the rest of the US) will be fine with that.

It would appear that nobody else is going to comment so I will give you my position on the issue.

Here in Arizona it is prop 102 that will amend our state constitution to say that a marriage is between one man and one woman. I will vote yes on 102. While I do not support allowing same sex marriages I am in support of legislation that will provide for same sex couples to have a domestic partnership that allows them some of the benefits that married couples have. For issues of joint property, medical insurance, right of survivorship issues, and child custody issues I think they should share the benefits that married couples do. I think that allowing same sex marriages opens up a can of worms and creates a means for gay rights activists to file lawsuits against organized religion that refuses to acknowledge or perform same sex marriages.

    Vote YES on these props!

Come out with a prop that creates a domestic partnership law and I will support it.

    EDIT

The ACLU would surely sue a church for discrimination if the law allowed same sex marriages! I am in no way against gay rights or their "marriage" or "union" I am against opening up the "can of worms" of lawsuits. So little miss ash if you had read my entire post you would see that I do indeed support their right to be united and have legal rights, just that they be kept from taking legal action against any institution that is against gay rights. To think that you can't sue a religious organization is ignorance. If a proposition makes same sex marriages legal and a church refuses to perform a ceremony based on same sex I am willing to bet they would be sued if it was legal. Protect the churches and define waht rights they have and you get my support!
