Food for teen girl sleepover?
OK, I may host 5-8 girls, age 13 to 15 at my house for a sleepover. Besides chocolate, what are some other essential foods?
As a mom, I have to add this in: Cool yet not too unhealthy would be preferred.

Working with the chocolate idea, I offer you the easiest, most amazing chocolate pie recipe I've ever found. The truly incredible thing: there is nothing in this that is bad for you. Zip, zing, zilch! The way that the pie filling thickens is tofu. Now, I know what you're thinking. I know it sounds awful, but, trust me, I've made this recipe many times, and everybody agrees that it is the most amazing chocolate pie they've ever tasted: healthy or not. To make this recipe, you'll need a blender, so if you don't have one, I'm sorry I've led you along. Still, here's the recipe:
Crust:
11 graham cracker squares, crumbled
4/3 ounces (1/3 stick) unsalted butter, melted.
1 teaspoon sugar
Melt the butter and mix in the sugar. Crush the graham crackers thoroughly (though not to the point of dust) and mix completely with the butter. Dump this mixture into a pie pan (one of the cheap aluminum ones is fine) and, using the bottom of a glass, gently flatten the crumbs against the bottom of the pan, and up along the sides, until you have a basic pie crust. Bake this in a 350 degrees Fahrenheit oven for 10 minutes. Let cool completely.
For the filling:
1 block soft silken tofu
2 cups chocolate chips
1/3 cup coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon honey
Melt the chocolate over a double boiler, or in the microwave. Add the tofu, coffee, vanilla, and honey to the blender. Quickly add the melted chocolate, and blend on high until smooth. Pour into the pie crust and refrigerate for 2 hours.
There; the greatest chocolate pie you will ever have.
P.S. With 5-8 girls, you might want to make more than one.

Hi Mom.
Undoubtedly, hands down, the coolest, easiest and none too unhealthy 'snack while you gab' essential is popcorn! Make a huge batch... maybe let every girl have her own bowl and buy (or better yet make them yourself) 2 or 3 different flavored 'seasonings' so they can choose their own. The only requirements are:
Make 'real' popcorn, not microwave. I like Oroville Redenbockers. And use real butter. Once you've done that your good to go. Some ideas for Seasonings are:
Cinnamon and Sugar with a cup of Hot Chocolate
Garlic,Rosemary and Parmesean (finely grated) with a bottle of Martenellis Sparkling Apple Cider
Chedder Cheese (grate very fine until almost powder)
Chili Powder, Cumin and Cayenne
Plain, with lots of Butter and a little salt with A & W Root Beer, maybe even with a dollop of Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream in it.
Have Fun!

You could try ordering in something fun but healthy like sushi . . .
If you want to serve chocolate but don't want it to get too unhealthy, why not try making chocolate-dipped strawberries or serve assorted cut-up fruit with a super easy chocolate "fondue": warm some heavy cream in a pot over med-low heat until it's hot and then add chocolate chips (start out w half the bag and add more if that looks like too few). Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes so the chocolate melts, then whisk it together till it's smooth. The girls could also make s'mores by spreading the chocolate sauce on graham crackers and melting marshmallows on skewers over the burner (if you have a gas stove).
You could also try make-your-own pizzas . . . buy pizza dough (in the freezer section or dairy case), sauce and cheese (you can get low-fat if you want) and then let the girls choose what they want to put on them--veggies, pepperoni, etc.
If they like guacamole, that's a good party staple (and baked tortilla chips make it healthier); I make mine with lime juice, chopped onion, fresh cilantro, salt, chopped tomatoes and avocado.
Popcorn is always good to have on hand for watching movies (you can get the reduced fat kind) . . .
A plate of apples & celery with peanut butter and/or caramel dip would be nice (I also used to eat apples with peanut butter & chocolate syrup on them!!)
Other ways of keeping it healthier is choosing organic or natural brands (for example, buying newman-o's instead of oreos--they're still sugary but at least they're not full of weird chemicals).
Another fun thing to do would be serving faux cocktails-soda mixed with grenadine & maraschino cherries or combinations of different juices-in the cheap plastic martini or champagne glasses you can find at the party store.
And the last thing (though this has nothing to do with the food), is consider having a fun theme, like a spa sleepover, where the girls paint their nails, do face masks, etc. . .

Make lots of dips!
Hummus and pita bread, pita chips, pretzels and veggies
Black bean dip and baked tortillas and veggies
Salsa and baked tortillas and veggies
Serve cut up fruit like bananas, apples, strawberries, cantalope, etc. with peanut butter, caramel or cream cheese dip. To make an easy cream cheese dip combine equal amounts of cream cheese with marshmallow fluff. Stir till combined.
Also, you could make smoothies with assorted fruit, yogurt, and juices!
Or you could make ice cream sundaes with Double Churned ice cream, fruit, nuts, or low fat cookies.
If the girls wanted, you could take them shopping with you. You could make a budget and have them pick out snacks that include at least one or two healthy options. You sound like a mom who likes to slip in little life lessons whenever you can!
