I recycle everything I possible can. We even do re-cycling at the caravan club where I am a member. David Bellamy runs an award scheme for conservation on our sites all over the UK.

We feed all the bird and wild life at the sites and I do my best at home being a member of the RSPB a Lot of our site have solar panels and chalets with roof growing sedum and other flowers and grasses or with walls made of re-cycled plastic. I know I am not doing any of this personally, but I am trying to do my bit by being a member. And encouraging others to do the same Which is trying to lead the way on energy efficiency, recycling, water conservation and of course habitat protection and creation.

I also sold my car when I retired and bought a bicycele which I use every day if I can, and I also take it in the caravan to use when we visit sites.

2 Days a week my husband leaves the car at home and cycles to work, which is no mean feat as he is 64 yrs old and he works 12 miles from home so this is a round trip of 24 miles!

By being a better person. I smile more. I'm more patient. I give more to homeless people when I have it. I hold the elevators for people. I let people cut in front of me on the freeway or the roads. I listen to people's problems genuinely, a lot from people I've just met right then. This happens at the bar. I find that just letting people get things off their chest makes them feel better. Hopefully, I will make someone's day go a little better and will hopefully have a ripple effect on people I won't even know.

I try to live in a "low impact" manner. I switched all my lighting over to those cooler more efficient light bulbs and have a wall fan mounted in every room. (AC is the biggest home use of electricity in Florida.) I use "the solar clothes dryer" in my back yard instead of the electric one in the laundry room. In warm weather (300 days a year, LOL) I do most of my cooking outdoors either with charcoal or propane, or by taking the toaster oven or steamer outside to run; that way I don't make my house hot. My electric bills are about half what my neighbors pay.

I have a home water distillation system so never buy bottled water. I use Shaklee concentrated cleaning products; my used laundry and dishwater doesn't KILL my grass -- it makes it grow BETTER. I save my junkmail for drop off at the office paper recycling center. I don't "stand and luxuriate" in the shower; I get wet, turn off the water, soap and scrub, then turn the water back on to rinse. My water bill is about half my neighbors. I make most of my foods from scratch instead of relying on convenience foods. The items on your supermarket shelf have travelled an average of 1500 miles to get there! When I eat out, I bring along my own "doggie bag" materials -- materials that are reusable, not throwaways.

I don't feel particular "virtuous" about this or anything. It's more a matter of my being cheap then being environmental conscientious. When I'm tempted to buy a frozen entree, the internal conversation goes "Am I willing to put in the extra 15 minutes at work to save myself 30 minutes of work at home?" Often the answer is NO and so I make my own mac & cheese or chicken & rice. Examine every impulse purchase in terms of "Would I be willing to go into work for 5 hours on my day off to pay for this?" You'll find yourself buying less.

By respecting others and keeping my thoughts to myself. But in terms of planetary cleaning I recycle but everytime I shower I keep a bucket right next the bath so that when I shower the cold water which is suppose to be hot fills the bucket up and I use that water for anything else. Second law of thermaldynamics. Use a source for multiple usage instead of wasting it inefficiently.

I do my best to support myself so that I do not have to claim benefits, currently I clean windows for work its a really rubbish job but I am not on the dole.

Instead of driving to the shops I walk as much as I can.

Instead of replacing my van I keep the one I have on the road as long as possible this prevents the production of a lot of pollution from the factory that make the van I drive.

all small things but they all help with things like keeping pollution to a minimum and keeping my mechanic in work and my window cleaning customers have a cheerful window cleaner so they happy too

Interesting question! I do the usual recycling - paper, plastic, glass, cardboard and tin and have a compost heap.

But best of all I like to smile at people - give someone a smile as you walk past them - they probably won't expect it - and watch them smile right back! I think that contributes a little bit cos makes people cheerful!

I am genetically altering and hormonally changing breeds of animals, fruits and vegetables to sustain a greater population and feed the starving masses. I see and understand the repercussions of my actions but at least it is not an atomic bomb.
