I need to figure out where I can go and what I should do.?

After high school I slacked off and didn't do much of anything for a couple years until I finally went to the local community college. I am graduating this semester with a fairly nice GPA (out of the 53 credits I have taken so far, they have all been solid A's besides an Art Appreciation course in which I received an A-). During high school I was far too lazy but did end up graduating with an International Baccalaureate diploma and a 1440 on the SATs the first and only time I ever took them. I have always been categorized as the lazy smart kid by my friends and over the last few years of living at home with no friends around I have maintained my reading habit.

I have absolutely no idea what I would like to major in or what type of school I could possibly get into. I would like to move on and get out of this house and make things better for myself but I have a huge problem planning and worrying about the future. Any helpful input?

I agree with the first poster-you need to take a career aptitude test to see what your strengths are, and what your weaknesses are. This will help show you what careers your personality and would do well in.

On another note-what were the classes you most enjoyed in community college-the ones you didn't mind going to, the ones that you participated in the discussions, etc. Try to remember these classes/sujects and consider careers in this area. Since you will be starting your junior year at a college, you will have to declare a major right away, so you need to figure out what you want to focus on academically before you start.

As for your question about getting into school-it sounds like you have great grades from your community college and this will take you a long way in getting into the college of your choice. Because you have already been taking college classes, admissions will look mainly at these grades, so you don't have much to worry about. Focus on finding the right school for you-big or small university, far from or close to home, class size, tuition costs, etc.

Basically-make a trip to you college's career counseling department (the majority of universities and community colleges have one) and start talking to your advisor at the community college-these two places can help you find the direction in which you want to go.

    Good luck!!!
