My husband and I are trying to buy a house. My lender needs a letter from VS showing that the card is paid off, and that the account has been closed. I called VS and they told me they mailed the letter, but that it can take up to TWO weeks to get here. Then it takes 3-5 business days for the credit companies to update my report-waaay too long if we want to put an offer in on a house.

The customer service rep that I spoke to said that they didn't have the ability to fax a copy of the letter to me, but this seems unlikely. Does anyone know if the agents (or their supervisors) have the ability to fax me a copy of this letter?

I took my two dogs to the groomers Dec 23rd to get bathed. Dropped them off at 8am, and when I hadn't heard anything by 2pm, I called to see if they were done. The groomer told me they had a "little" problem...the dogs had been placed in a kennel dryer and had passed out. They also told me they had burns on their stomachs. I immediately went to pick the dogs up and took them straight to the vet. They had 2nd degree in most places on their stomachs and chests, internal bruising and both were in shock and a lot of pain. The vet treated them with medication and sent us home. We returned the next morning for more shots, and again were sent home. Around 3pm December 24th, my dog Bella's condition started to decline-she was throwing up blood and extremely lethargic. We took her back to vet for an IV to hydrate her, and more pain meds. We brought her back home and she passed away 3 hours later-her injuries were just too severe to recover from. Our other dog, Bentley is still recovering. He developed a staph infection as a result from an open sore and is slowly recovering from that. I don't have children so these two puppies are like family members. Our vet bills are over $600 for the past 2 weeks. We originally paid $450 for Bella. I know we will be reimbursed for these costs-the groomer has already stated this. However I am interested in pursuing legal action beyond this. In Texas would we be able to sue for pain and suffering or for punitive damages? This is a very popular groomer in this town, and I don't want them to have an opportunity to do this to anyone else. Thanks.

I have also looked at CPS, MHMR, Monster.com, HotJobs, the ISDs in the area and the local government. Can anyone think of anywhere else I should look?

Oh...its not my resume-I have had 2 university career counselors look at it, as well as my cover letter. Just a thought!

I am relocating to a different area of the state and am having a hard time finding a job. I recently started looking at the postings on Craigslist. I have already seen every picture with green apples used in centerpeices online...I searched all the pages of yahoo, and 20 pages in google....believe me, if its out there I have seen it. Does anyone have personal pictures from weddings or mock-ups that you have done that you could show me? I am considering doing my own flowers for my wedding, and my colors are pink and green, and I want to use apples in my centerpeices.....any ideas you could give would be greatly appreciated! New neighbors recently moved in to the house next door. They brought their two dogs with them, a large golden retriever type dog, and a mid size mutt. The larger dogs barks constantly. Throughout the day, into the evening until they bring him in for the night (around 11-12 on weeknights), and then they let him out again about 6am and he starts all over. Now, I know my options and recourses I could take if this was simply the problem. However, once their dog starts barking, my 2 small dogs get worked up and threatened and start barking back. I have tried keeping them inside, and shutting the doggie door, but this isn't healthy for them as they don't have the chance to play outside, and they are ruining my carpet because they can't go outside to go to the bathroom. I must do something to fix this situation, but I am concerned that any action I take could be turned around on me cause my dogs are barking too....as I said before, the other dog barking causes them to bark, but I am not sure if the neighbors recognize it or if the police will care. Any suggestions? Do you think I should be worried about this, or do you think the police/animal control will understand that my dogs are just responding to the threat? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!

My DH lost his job 3 weeks ago. It was completely unexpected, they pulled him in on a Friday morning, and told him that it wasn't a good match, and they were going to let him go. When he asked their reasons, the only thing they kept saying was "you never got here more than 5 min. early" (ridiculous, right?). DH had recieved a "performance review" in January, however, the circumstances were questionable. A new boss had just moved over to the division, and had worked with DH for 2 days before the review was given. DH met with the boss and stated that he did not agree with the review, and asked for another in 4 to 6 weeks. The second review was never given. He was never made aware that the review was supposedly a 90 probabtion notice, and never signed anything to that effect. When he was let go,the boss said he would give him a good reference. Now he is having problems filing for unemployment, the boss says he was fired for gross negligence and misconduct. Is there anyway to dispute this?

I work for an internet company and we are trying to find out all of the different meanings of the word "java" in all different languages. If you could answer and tell me what the word means in your language, or what you think of when you hear the word, I would appreciate it!

I am trying to write a paper for one of my classes, and am having a hard time finding information on the topic. Our prof wants us to get others philosophies of higher education and evaluate them and come up with our own. However, when I search "philosophy of higher education" all I get is info on PhD programs! So, if you are a higher ed administrator or an educator, what is your philosophy of higher education, or what is your college's philosophy?

Also if you have any tips on where to find this information, or better ways to search, please let me know!

I started work for a small (3 employees) tax company in Jan of this year. I immediately started working 70-80 hr weeks, and continued to do so until April (when tax season ended). I did not get paid overtime during these months, as the boss stated that as soon as tax season was over that the work week would cut to 4 day weeks-and I would still be getting paid the same amount (so it would equal out at the end of the year). However, right after tax season ended, the boss let me go, telling me that he could not afford to pay me any longer. Am I entitled to receive overtime for the hours that I worked during those 4 months because the boss could not fulfill his part of the deal?
