July 1976 bunking off school in the afternoons to go swimming over the lido - whats your happy summer memory?

Two summers when I was 14 and 15. I went to a theatre workshop for five of the six weeks. I loved them.

The best summers so far have been in my care-free teen days, me and the girls thinking up things to pass the time, among the most memorable outings where Sunday afternoon bike-rides, fishing at the bottom of the garden, sitting in the garden from sun-up till sun-up, exploring derelict places, we could never stay in and sleep was a luxury afforded only to the winter months... happy days!

Oh crikey, there are loads and loads.

The long school holidays - climbing trees; scrumping apples; going as fast as I could on my Raleigh with playing cards held in the spokes by a couple of my mum's clothes pegs; running into Woolies to nick a peanut cracknell from the pick 'n' mix; lying in bed listening to thunderstorms which seemed to go on all night; going out on my inflatable dinghy in Dymchurch or Camber Sands; playing knock-down ginger on old dears' front doors; watching Multi-Coloured Swap Shop on a Saturday morning (phone number 01 811 8055!)

Wow, I could go on. But I won't!

Summer 1972 leaving school and been able to go to the disco on a Friday night feeling all grown up.

would have to be going to the local canoe and sailing club and doing volentry work so that i didn't have to pay full price loved it so much i would get there early and stay all day went there nearly every day ...three great summers in all ahhhhh those were the days back in the summer of 1993-1996 and being a teenager

Breaking up from school for the 6 week holidays was always the best bit about summer in itself.

Bungee Jumping somewhere into the Atlantic Ocean (kind of close to the shoreline but still) during stormy weather. And when we got to shore hours later, we went back in only have sex in the water. Bad idea, but still fun.

I wasn't born until October 1976!

But every summer with my kids is great, lazy summer days, barbecues, paddling pools, chilling out....but WHERE IS our sun??

The year we left school, it was a scorcher of a summer and we spent the whole of it by my friends swimming pool in her garden, getting drunk, getting a fab tan and listening to fab music. (1995)
