Hi.. Im just writing a cover letter for a job application and under the desired criteria, it states the candidates should have "knowledge of web systems".

Now, I may well have knowledge of web systems, and not know it! This is where one of you can hopefully step in!?!?

For context, the job is an environmental officer at a university campus and much of the job focuses on energy management..

Google didnt help.. I got one definition on that exact term which made no sense without an I.T degree.. any help would be gratefully received!! Thank you!!!

I've seen a job I would really like to apply for.. its in Amsterdam, but its only an internship so the wage is about 800 euros per month... I'm thinking I could maybe pick up some more part time work to boost the pennies but I wondered if anyone can give me any tips on living in Amsterdam? Like, where is nice, where is not.. cheap living tips.. getting jobs etc I really don't know where to start looking and would appreciate some pointers/ideas! Thanks alot everyone!! :)

I am having a nightmare trying to work out which test I should apply to my data sets to prove whether or not the results from my project are significant.

I have collected two data sets from two different locations (one heavily polluted, one moderately polluted). The project is to show that lichen diversity and abundance is negatively effected by rising levels of air pollution.

At each site I surveyed 4 trees, on each tree I recorded 4 aspects (N,S,E,W). For each aspect I identified which lichen species were present and gave them a score (1-5) depending on their frequency.

An example of my data

Tree1, North

Physica ascendens : 1

Xanthoria parietina : 4

Lepraria Incana : 2

etc

I dont have a very mathematical-brain, and after reading as much as I can I just cant work it out.

If anyone knows how I can prove significance in these kind of results, I would be eternally grateful!!!!

I am having a nightmare trying to get my non-maths brain around which statistical analysis I should use to compare data for a project.

I would like to compare the results from biodiversity counts (species and abundance) on two tree transects, one in a low-pollution area, one in a high pollution area.

I have read online guides and books i have over and over again, but I just cant work it out with any confidence, any help or advice anyone can give would be gratefully received.

I a bit worried that i might have been a little stupid... i applied for a job on a Gumtree and this company sent me an email asking me to upload my CV to their website.. the request was weird because I had to enter my email address on what seemed like a promotional website for some cosmetic or other.. I then had to fill in my address.. the only details thay have are my name, address and email... can anything sinister come of this or am i to expect a barrage of spam?? please help!!!!

I was cleaning today (my job) and I was emptying what I thought was a paper bin when a used sanitary towel came out and blood was on my finger. I washed it off immediately but I noticed that near to my fingernail was a tiny small cut.. hard to tell if it was open as it was just a hang-nail. Im really worried now that I have come into contact with blood and put myself at risk.. is there anything I can do? I told my employers but they just suggested to put it in the accident book, which doesnt really help me! Advice please...!!!!

I dyed my hair today twice because the colour wasn't right first time round.. now my scalp feels really tight. It isn't painful or itchy but I'm wondering if I have damaged it? Anybody else had this before? Any remedies? (sensible ones please)

I would really like to have a small flesh tunnel in my ear lobe but I really don't know where to start. Whats the smallest diameter you can have? How do I do it myself? Where can I get them from??

I've just found out that a place I worked for a short while (2 1/2 days, left for a family emergency, then couldn't go back due to new commitments) has used a picture of me and put up "missing" posters all around the office. I guess its a bit of a joke to them but I'm annoyed, my friend has just rang me in a flap because she thought something had happened to me. Do you think I am over-reacting??

I have bleached my short, healthy hair today and it is a light blond at the roots but the rest is a yellowy colour.. I have used a toner but it has not really made a noticeable difference, it doesnt look horrendous but its not great either.. I really want to tone it down

Would it be ok to put a mid-blond permanent dye on it?

I have had my hair cut today into a really short elfin style cut which i love.. but then i had the bright idea to bleach it blond from mid-brown.. It has turned out a bizarre shade of yellowy/orangish tinge to it. I have used a toner on it but it hasnt really toned it down much at all.

What can i do? I cant afford to go the hairdressers again.

Ca i put an ash blonde on it, will that work? Or i really dont mind dying it red but will it turn out pink? And, what sort of dye should i use.. permanent or semi? How long do I have to wait?

My hair is in good condition btw.

I am trying to delete all the files on it and one (a word doc) wont budge. It is saved in a folder.. which is in another folder (prob not the best way to store).. when i hit delete, the doc seems to have gone but when i try to erase any of the folders an error message says...

"cannot remove folder..... the directory is not empty" and then when i open the folder again the doc has re-appeared.

Any ideas..??

what are you scared of the most? I dont mean like family dying.. that goes without saying.. i mean like scenarios.. mine is being chased by someone.. scares me to death!

I got water in my ears swimming on Tuesday, one stayed blocked for several hours and only came clear because i used the heel of my hand to create suction. Well, i thought it was clear but my hearing still isn't right, i have this kind of echo which is really irritating although not painful. I have used a product called "swim-ear" today to dry and dry it out but no results yet.

I also had a period last year of four months were i suffered with tinnitus quite badly, i didn't know why it came on but i remember it started very similarly to how my ear is now.

Is it worth going to the doctors again as last time they basically said "live with it".. i'm starting a new job in the next few weeks and this is really going to impair it so I would really appreciate some advice.
