  • Opening Projects in Quartus ii?

I have a class using quartus ii software to type system verilog code to program an FPGA.

I am not very familiar with this program, and have been struggling

I had some code that someone e-mailed me to look over and I saved it to the computer and cannot even figure out how to open the project correctly i can get the code but nothing compiles or is useable. I did open project not file and i believe I opend the highest level in the hierarchy

Also is there sources with helpful videos or tips for learning to use quartus? also system verilog or FPGA

    Thanks

  • Using the command window in linux?

    Floating point

Run the following computations in single-precision (32-bit) floating-point mode:

    1000 + 1

    11 / 3

    100 - 0.25

    100 - 0.3

    -100 + 0.3

    9000 + 0.0001 - 9005

    9000 - 9005 + 0.0001

    9000 + 0.01

    9000 * 0.01

Answer the following questions in lab2.txt:

Why is there an error in the fourth computation, but not the third? (Hint: how do you encode 0.25 and 0.3 in floating point?)

How does the result of the fifth computation compare to the fourth? Explain. (Hint: look at the hex representations of the results. How does the floating point format handle negative numbers?)

Mathematically, would you expect the same results in computations 6 and 7? Do you observe this result experimentally? Explain. (Hint: try stepping through each computation)

What happens if you try computation 6 in double-precision (64-bit) floating-point mode? Why?

Why is there noticeable error in computation 8, but not 9? (Hint: think of multiplying floating point numbers like multiplying two numbers in scientific notation, how do you do it?)

The root cause of the Ariane 5 rocket failure was isolated to the conversion of a floating point number, which stored the horizontal component of the rocket's velocity, to a 16-bit signed integer. What is the most likely cause of the failure? (Hint: this wasn't some small rounding error, the computed velocity was way off, causing the system to go haywire)

Tip: It might be useful to use the IEEE-754 Floating-point Conversion tool to better understand the representation of floating-point numbers.

We are using bin/bincalc f32 program and running it in the command program. Im not sure how to answer these questions,

    Thanks for your help

  • HP Deskjet 3050 j610 series wireless question?

I have a wireless printer, but up until now I have always just plugged it in to my computer. I loaned my cable to a friend that lost theirs, so I don't have the cable anymore.

I noticed that my printer has wireless setting and I turned the wireless setting on and a blue light started flashing. I then pushed print on my computer but nothing happened. I printed the diagnostic page on the printer and found that it said that the Network name (SSID) was not found. I don't know what this means or how to fix the problem

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Physics question, Power, energy and heat transfer?

While camping you boil water to make spaghetti. Your pot contains 2.5 kg of water initially at 10 degrees Celsius. You stoke up the campfire, and as a result the water gains energy at an increasing rate: P = a + bt, where a = 1.1 kW, b = 2.3 W/s, and t is the time in seconds. To the nearest minute, how long will it take to bring the water to a boil.

Calculate the electric and magnetic field at the surface of the resistor, assuming the electric field is uniform over the surface. Calculate the Poynting vector (integral of S*da) over the resistors surface to get the rate of electromagnetic energy flow into the resistor, and show that the result is I^2R. Your result shows that the energy heating the resistor comes from the fields surrounding it. These fields are sustained by the source of electric energy that drives the current.
