I'm going into the Marines fairly soon, and I am a musician. I won't be in the Marine Band, but I'm wondering if there's a possibility of playing music in a casual setting. In other words, is it common for those who are serving to form bands? And are instruments generally allowed on base/in job school? I'm really into music as a hobby more than anything else, and I want to keep it that way.

I recently turned 17 and enlisted in the US Marines. I live in New Hampshire, I haven't even finished high school, and I'm technically on reserves until next summer (through the Delayed Entry Program). Am I legally emancipated? And if yes, what exactly does it mean for me? Does it mean I no longer need parent permission to do anything? And if that's true, what would I use as evidence of my emancipation? A copy of my enlistment contract? I also live with my mother, who receives child support from my father. Does emancipation mean the child support will stop?

According to the above source, "A child will also be considered to be emancipated when the child marries or enters the armed forces or military academy". I am really just looking for someone to explain this statement in more detail to me.

I turn 17 soon, and I want to enlist in the US Marines. My dad supports this idea and my mom doesn't . Thing is, my parents are divorced and my mom is the custodial parent (my dad has visiting rights). My question is, do I need my mom's signature to enlist (because she's the custodial parent), or can I use only my dad's? Or do I need both?

I am a junior in high school now and I am looking at joining the marines after high school. I am really confused on one thing: do I have to go to a marine academy to actually be in the marines? And what is the process involved in joining an academy?
