Why does a lot of society and much of the media place so much importance on being in a relationship?

I honestly think that they're kinda overrated, lol. I'm happy for couples that truly get along with eachother, don't get me wrong....but I also like the freedom that comes with being single. 

The media pushes the idea that relationships are normal, there's someone for everyone, and you're "lonely" if you aren't in one.....but I don't think it's a reflection of reality. 

If I were to pass away, knowing that I had a loving and supportive group of friends, I'd be okay with it.

I even masturbate on a regular basis and don't see the need to date anymore. If it's appealing to others though, then good for them! XD
