Free alternative for Windows Media Player 12? Windows 7.?

A simple working alternative for Windows Media player is the VLC media player it plays just about everything and it's free.

VLC plays most media files. However some files have proprietary codecs, which are a Goddamn pain in the *ss. Power DVD player is better, though it's not free.

VLC Media Player. It comes with its own codecs and best of all, it's totally free.

Media Monkey is a good one,plenty of options to customize.

VLC is definitely the most common choice, with millions of users.

Anything is better than Windows Media Player. I personally use VLC player which can virtually read everything. It's also free.
