How often do you read someones answer, and then look at their profile and wonder how they have such a high percentage of best answers?

No, not really. The way it generally works here is best answer is awared to the answer that most agrees with the asker's perceptions.

Never. I only visit a profile when it's obvious the question is trolling and I can see the line of questions that contradict themselves.

If you look at my profile you'll see it says I have 267% Best Answers. This is hte result of a glitch from a few months ago when my account was suspended for (as it turns out) no reason. When it was re-instated, my profile info said I had something like 500% BAs - obviously nonsense.

The glitch seems to have been resolved and my BA figure drops a little every day. I expect it to reach my real figure in a month or so, which is more like 16 or 17%.

I don't actually look at the profile, but sometimes I notice that a person is consistently giving uninformative, garbage answers that require no thought. Then I hover over the picture and see a high percentage of best answers.

It's puzzling until you realize that people here often don't want information, they just want to hear a certain answer. In those cases, whoever gives them the answer they find most agreeable gets best answer.

Sometimes I wonder how the hell mine is still at 15%. I mean have you seen some of mine?

I have a reputation for high quality answers. My % rose from a low of 11% several years ago to a solid 13% today.

Others don’t try, or point game if they have a score below 5% or above 20% respectively.
