What would be the best degree and university to go to (UK) in order to become a television/radio presenter?

Or at the very least, increase my chances...

Someone mentioned journalism, which may be a good start. However, I know that in the U.S., *competition is fierce* to possibly get a job as news anchor or television presenter. Some related jobs to television presenter listed on the U.K. government website about careers include actor, broadcast journalist, DJ, magazine journalist, and radio broadcast assistant.

    Here is that government website:

I doubt that there's a degree requirement to be hired by the BBC or other media outlet. Those jobs are based mostly on skills and personality. You could look up information about presenters to see what their background is. To become a reporter on a news show, which is often the first step to becoming an anchor, some study of journalism, history, and political science helps. Betsy is right that the first step is usually to take a lowly job with a tv or radio company, unless you're a celebrity like Alexander Armstrong or Stephen Fry.

Have you thought about going another route and considering an apprenticeship with one of the big TV companies? BBC, ITV and Channel 4 all offer apprenticeships in production, which would be the best route to presenting. Other than that, there is no degree that will really get your foot in the door any more than another. Most TV presenters were part of the behind the scenes teams as runners or researchers etc before they became presenters.
