Florida Vet Rabies Shot?
My 12 YO outdoor cat has never been vaccinated since he was a kitten. Will a vet just give him his shot, or will he want to do an examination too?

I'm in FL and I specify a "rabies shot only" -- which is only about $10 -- but the vet does a basic examination anyway and charges me for it (usually the total is around $50).
There are Mobile Units that give pets vaccinations only -- licensed volunteer vets go from town to town, park in parking lots, and administer rabies shots. No appointments are taken, you go and wait your turn. Shots cost (like) $8 for a 1-year shot, $15 for a 3-year shot. They do NOT do exams, or charge you for anything else. Their interest is getting your pets vaccinated.
To find a Mobile Clinic, search the Internet for mobile pet vaccination clinics (use whatever words you think might produce results) for you town, county; ask at pet stores, humane societies, no-kill shelters, etc. Vets probably know whether mobile clinics visit your town, but may not give up the information because it cuts in to their business -- but you can ask. I usually see signs posted around town when the Unit is going to come here (posted a few weeks in advance).
The best way to know -- in answer to your question -- is to call vets and ask.
Hope this helps. :)

Why would you not want to get your cat an exam, especially now that he is a senior cat? Cats really need a yearly exam as that is how any problems/issues are found before they become serious. Proper vet care - yearly exams, vet visits if/when needed, and vaccines on a three year schedule are part of the responsibility we accept when we take on a pet. If your cat hasn't had a rabies vaccine since he was a kitten, if he were to bite someone you would be fined, and he would be impounded at your expense for the duration of the quarantine period that your county feels is appropriate.

I would hope the vet would do an exam, and I assume you are also in favor of the cat getting the exam. Therefore, unless this post is about how can I sort of treat my cat with the least expensive care I can scrape together, I'm not sure what the question is about.
A vet would be irresponsible to give a vaccination without an examination and a reasonably complete history.

If you just want a rabies shot then you can find a shot clinic perhaps at a pet store or shelter.

Why would you NOT want an exam for this neglected cat? it's never seen a vet and you force it to live outdoors. It could have Feline Leukemia and/or FIV.
Since it never got any shots that means you never bothered to neuter it, either, did you? Shame on you letting an intact cat roam. You are HORRIBLE.
