WIFI card may be failing:?
I saw another person having a similar problem and one answer said replace the card with an Intel 7260. MyGateway has an Intel Centrino Advanced N6205 card. Is that the only replacement option, or can I use a better one, or whichever is available that fits the slot?

contrary to what Aerialnine has said the 7260 will be a good replacement. It is dual band,never known one not to be. The speed is AC so faster that your original one.
These cards are usually very reliable so are you sure it is faulty
