How long does it take for dewormer to get rid of the worms in a cat?

so today i just gave my cat de wormer it was emodepside/praziquantel, my cat has tapeworm and the vet gave me this. how long will it take to work? im skeptical about it because you put in on their skin and that seems odd to me to kill a work that is in her intestines.

    Oh, it's called Profender. It works systemically, as it's absorbed through the skin and gets into the bloodstream. It works very well, but isn't the instant kill that Drontal is. It does take a couple days - no more than 2 or 3 If I remember correctly. It's a bit expensive but a great thing for cats that you cannot pill.
