Swiss K31 wood stock emblem?
I have a swiss k31 (walnut stock ) circa 1943 and on the stock where the swiss crest normally would be I have an "8" with a circle around it. Any ideas what this could be?

Could it be a 3? 3 in a circle is the acceptance mark from the Canton Arsenal. There are some other stampings from Canton that may be found on your rifle.
They'll have C as the first letter.
Update: Canton was basically a repair facility, which means your stock was probably a replacement.
