Chinese Communist Propoganda?

My grandma says in world war 2, the red army did the main task of fighting off the japanese while the nationalists were a bunch of cowards who hid behind and sold themselves out to the japanese army. Is this true?

not so. both the reds and the nationalists bitterly resisted the Japanese, but both lacked the material required to defeat them. Japan was, at the time, a near first world power and China was third world, plus effectively landlocked [unable to import supplies of near anything because all ocean shipping was under the control of the Japanese Navy and there are no significant land routes into China from anywhere].

Actually, I believe it was mostly the opposite - the Nationalist Army did most of the hard fighting (the CCP staged a few offensives like the Hundred Regiments, but mostly sat back and preserved their strength).

    Grammy is a Commie!

The Nationalists resisted and took the casualties while Mao and the Red Army holed up in the mountains and preserved their strength.

    In broad terms...yeah, pretty much.

(This does not make the CCP of today a good or noble organization but her history is relatively correct.)
