Looking for a good practical name for a scissors sharpening business I'm starting.?

The business will sharpen the type of scissors used by hair stylists. I'm not looking for some cutesy smart sounding name. Just a name that can be remembered, is professional, and my customers will remember. Keep in mind that it also must be a name that is not already being used by some company.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I had posted this same question in another forum before posting here. The other forum went crazy and I had more than 40 suggestions in only an hour or two. Unfortunatyely many people have suggested the same names. That is not surprising since searching other sharpening businesses I find that many of the names i thought of and many of those you all suggested are already being used by someone. A few answers missed the mark. The goal was to find a name that both hinted at what the business does yet is not already being used. A few suggestions of the many I have now sounded cool but when looking at it from a professional image fell short. I have decided on a business name and am in the process of getting Business licenses tax I.D.'s. business cards, ...etc. I'll be out of state a few days next month for training on the sharpening system I'll be using. Then by late next month I'll be in business. Thanks for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.

You can do a trademarked name search here USPTO.gov

There are sites with tools that help you come up with fictitious names, including: wordlab.com, naming.net, wordoid.com, lingzini.com, namestation.com, domainsBot.com some of these tools look up the domain name availability as you go.

If you find an available .com name, there's a high probability that it's not a trademarked name. It makes sense for almost any company to own the $12/yr domain name for it, if nothing else to prevent others from grabbing it.

That is an extremely narrow might, seems like you would have to offer a bigger variety of services, like chair and plumbing maintence for saloons or new scissor and other stylist tool sales, or perhaps household scissor and knife sharpening.

ˆIt's OK for a regional business to have te same name as one in another state, as long as it's not a registered name.

We used to have a sharpening business, and we called it Sharp1. It was easy to remember, because it had the word sharp in it.

You can also learn to sharpen pinking shears and get the quilter's business. Buy yourself a knife machine --they aren't too expensive, and you can get into that fairly cheaply.

We had hats and t-shirts that said Sharp1.

Good luck! Stylists and seamstresses are very picky ---beware! Also, look into the brands that only warranty the scissors if sharpened by the manufacturer. That was a loss for us.

    Good luck!

I wish I could be of more help.

The only thing I can add that may help is to give it a name near the beginning if the alphabets or one that begins with a number. Research sow that people are lazy. They are likely to choose a business from one of the ones they can find near the beginning of business listing. People do not like to read. Most do not research. They will also pick from those that have been recommended to them or a name they think they have heard of before.
