Is knowledge infinite, or is it just finitely very huge?
I used to think this statement
"Knowledge is infinite."
as merely a metaphor.
But then I think,
"Isn't knowledge some sort of artificial concepts?"
In that case, even if we know exactly everything about the whole universe,
we might still ask questions like,
"Why is this law named like this?" and so forth.
So what do you think about this?

I think it's like fractals with statistically equal shape, but with ever increasing levels of detail. It doesn't just apply to the physical universe but to all our concepts and constructs. Look at it this way, if you acquired all the knowledge in the universe there would still be just as much left for someone else to have.
It's infinite, there's always something else to learn and understand, thats what makes life interesting.

Let's consider how science grows knowledge. A scientist takes what people used to see as random and organizes it. Once math is applied to a field the models are improved and improved. Eventually it is possible for a field to be so carefully known it's like inorganic chemistry. I've never touched an instrument that could change any digit in any book of chemical standards.
So we can expect that any one field of science will eventually converge towards completion. Advances in inorganic chemistry are now in exotic high pressure crystals and such way out of the edge of the field.
What we can not expect is for science to ever reach a point where no more discoveries ever get made.
So probably just finitely very huge but there's no way to be certain.

I believe that knowledge is more a concept (like love or infinity) than a concrete thing. I believe that humans are simply incapable of possessing all knowledge due to the vastness of the universe and the fact that we, as a race of humans, are so insignificant compared to said universe.
So is knowledge infinite? I think that, since there is always something new to be learned, as the universe and its contents are changing, temporary things, that knowledge is, indeed, infinite.
This is such an interesting topic!

I say knowledge is infinite.... my logic goes like this..... Time keeps ticking infinitely.... with time passing on, changes keep happening... every change brings a new knowledge..... therefore knowledge keeps growing with time and since time itself seems to be having no finite end, knowledge too becomes infinite.

We can never know exactly everything about the universe because a large portion is beyond our grasp. As it expands, portions of it are literally receding so fast the light from it will never reach us, and we have not the capability to explore it. The knowledge that could be gained is infinite (or practically so) in that we could never obtain all of it. It is finite in that our existence is finite.

By knowledge do you mean the knowable or what humans already know?
What is knowable by human minds as we understand them now is limited but vast. Perhaps some future artificial intelligence may be able to grasp a much larger piece. I think that what is called ultimate truth is ineffable. The mind that can understand it would be God.

Knowledge isn't an "artificial concept."
knowledge is true information about reality, and it's quite concrete. Knowledge can be abstract (such as mathematics, taxonomy, etc) but it's not artificial.
And yes, it's boundless and endless. There is no limit to what can be known.
