Does anyone know the location of the ARC switch for the 1997 Ford Explorer?
This has the Eddie B package and it no longer makes any compressor noise when shut down. We got it used and no owner manual was in the vehicle. A switch is my first starting point if I can locate it.
ARC is nothing to do with the AC or cooling systems. It is the load leveling Automatic Ride Control.

Look on the inside left of your trunk for a ARC reset switch. If that doesn't work look u den the hood in the relay fuse box. The "ARC fuse" goes bad from time to time. Not sure why. I have had to do a trunk switch reset once. I have also had to replace the ARC fuse twice in 4 years. My local Dealership can't seem to locate the reason either.

more than likely it is just low on refrigerant, find the low pressure cut out switch, mounted on the accumulator disconnect and jumper across it, see if it works, if yes = evacuate and recharge your AC system. I would also replace the orifice tube and accumulator, and check it for leaks first. Find a shop that uses nitrogen to pressure test the system. -- good luck!
