navy reserve transfer states?
I'm married to a United States sailor she has just started her A school and will be there for a year and a half I am thinking about joining the navy reserve when we get to our first duty station "IF" it is stateside of course. My question is do you think I will be able to transfer states if and when we have to change bases. I don't know how long we would be stationed in one place and didn't know if they honor the co-location option from active duty in the reserves

Simple answer is yes. You have to find a unit to join originally. Once trained through boot and A school with a rating and back in your reserve unit you can apply to transfer reserve units. The catch is that you have to find a reserve unit at your new location which will accept you AND your old unit will release you. Though, if you have moved a thousand miles away, it's rather obvious that the old unit has to release you or assign you to the IRR if there is no unit near to your new location.
It is possible to be a drilling reservist overseas. Since you will already be near a USN active base or unit because of your spouse's active duty PCS move, you can apply to the USN Reserve Command for a Cat B position, where you are assigned to a reserve position somewhere, but you drill with an active unit overseas. The overseas unit has to accept you and be willing to train you. It's complicated, but can be done.
Congratulations on having the foresight to ask these questions. Well done.
