Can thunderstorms affect the earth's rotation?

I was wondering, since thunder has the ability to shake the ground we stand on, if we were to experience a world wide thunderstorm, could it affect the earth's rotation like the earthquake in Haiti

No. One might feel the shockwave of thunder, but the mass of the earth is so large it would have no effect. the process that results in earthquakes can affect the rotation slightly because the shifting of plates can alter the distribution of mass around the Earth.

Thousands of thunderstorms occur each and every day on planet Earth.

Thunder results from milli-second perturbations of a narrow, localized channel in lower atmosphere. How could any single thunderstorm possibly affect the earth's rotation?

The very idea of a 'worldwide thunderstorm' illustrates either 1) seven year-old children are posting questions to Y!A or 2) a truly sad commentary on our education system.
